Orchard Cottage (c1910) is a private, sunny, self -contained guest house in its own colourful garden and a shared orchard which guests are welcome to enjoy. It is close to Diamond Harbour's town centre amenities, and just 10 minutes walk from the Lyttelton ferry. There is good swimming at the nearby beach which is a few minutes down a bush track from the cottage and lots of lovely clifftop walks and other beaches nearby.

The space
The interior of Orchard Cottage is light, fresh, clean and comfortable, although the bathroom is rather compact. In fine weather the French doors can be left open to allow fresh air and birdsong into the house and provide easy access to and from the garden and orchard. Fresh vegetables and fruit can be harvested by guests from the garden and orchard in season.
The cottage is sited on a sloping section and access is by steps from Purau Avenue. There is a roadside parking space nearby.

Other things to note
A second bedroom is charming but tiny, too small for an adult. The bunk bed is suitable only for a child to sleep in. However an adult can sleep on the divan in the sunroom which is off the main living room

Diamond Harbour, Canterbury, New Zealand

Diamond Harbour is a small settlement set on sun-drenched cliffs overlooking Lyttelton Harbour, opposite the Port of Lyttelton. There are lots of walking tracks to explore and a number of swimming beaches nearby.
Diamond Harbour Eatery which serves coffee and meals is a short walk away from Orchard Cottage. An excellent small supermarket provides all other essentials.

Characterful Lyttelton, with its restaurants, bars and indie music scene is just a twelve-minute ferry ride away and the ferry links with the Number 8 Port-to-Port bus to downtown Christchurch. This bus also goes right through the city to Christchurch International Airport. Christchurch city with all its attractions and shopping can also be reached by a scenic 40 minute drive round the harbour and over the Port Hills to Christchurch.

Diamond Harbour is a good base from which to explore the rest of Banks Peninsula's stunning landscapes.
