Our spacious apartment, situated in an old school building, has high ceilings, a lovely bathroom, two bedrooms, large windows and a very well equipped kitchen. The famous Vondelpark is around the corner, as are numerous bars, restaurants and markets.
Our appartment is situated in an old school wich is build by the same architect that designed the Rijksmuseum and Central station in Amsterdam. It has beautifull details an was build in 1880. The appartment has four and a half meters high ceilings with the old ornaments still intact. When entering the building you still get the feeling of the old school it once was. You enter our appartment through the high cabinet that has a lot of art and crafts in it. Small lamps highlight each and every detail. Once two classrooms, now a spacious 'lofty' home. We broke down the wall that seprated the classrooms, so that an open space was created. In the middle we build steal beams with walls in between wich, on the ground floor, houses the large spacious bathroom with bath and shower. The toilet is also situated on the ground floor. Up the black wooden stairs you'll find two bedrooms, both with double beds. (The bed in the masterbedroom is 160cm wide, the one in teh second bedroom is 120cm wide) Also you'll find lot's of space in the wardrobe for your clothes.
We love to cook and we welcome you to use the kitchen. It's pretty well equiped and the stove has two ovens, a Japanese bakingplate and 5 gas burners. Our diningtable (well, we use it as our office too...) sits 6 persons. The living area has two big sofa's and the windows are surrounded by more cabinets. When you want to sit in the window-sill (we recomment you to do so!) just climb the couch and take a pillow with you. Instant happiness garantueed. We have a digital flatscreen, apple-tv, wifi and you’re free to use our bicycles. Our neighbourhood is very central, close to the Vondelpark, the big museums are a 15 minute walk away. Nearby we have numerous bars and restaurants (‘Golden Brown’ is or favourite and is just around the corner). When you feel like taking a boat through the canals, let us now. We’ll hook you up with friends that rent out there boat. They come with an experienced and friendly captain. In our neighbourhood, we have a lot of trams going to any location in the city.
We love our neighbourhood and respect our neighbours. We don’t aprecciate loud music, or other guests than yourselves in the appartment. Music shouldn’t be played after ten in the evening (well, not loud music, that is.). We think our appartment is very suitable for a family or two couples.
There are no 'restricted areas' in our house. We might move some of our clothes elsewhere in cabinets so that you can place your clothes in the wardrobe. Please take notice of the fact that since this is our house, offcourse our private belongings are there too. We're sure you'll be repectfull concerning that.
Other things to note
Renting out our house made us think of how WE would like to be treated. Therefore, when you are guests in our house, do not hesitate to ask us anything!
Please take notice of the fact that since this is our house, offcourse our private belongings are there too. We're sure you'll be respectfull concerning our belongings. Furthermore, we really like our neighbours and the residential area we live in. We can't approve of parties or other guests in the house than yourselves. Loud music isn't an option either.
When we travel, we like our privacy. Probably, so do you. When you rent our appartmenet, it's your appartment, we won't be there. So apart from check in, you won't see us. Unless offcourse, you need anything that requires our presence there. We do like to help everybody to enjoy our city, our country as much as possible. We know the hotspots, all the new restaurants and nice local bars. So any assistence needed to make your stay even better, we will gladly give!
We (Mirjam and Pim) are from Amsterdam. We love arts, theatre, concerts, festivals and food. We-love-food.
