Terry is a host extraordinaire. She was super friendly and helpful without being overly so. Little touches were appreciated- like making homemade granola for our breakfast, digging out a flashlight for our use in negotiating stairs in the middle of the night, and setting out a decanter of fresh water for our room. It was fun to sit around a table with several other guests in the morning over a simple breakfast before we all scattered to the four winds. Terry's hospitality helped us to feel right at home. We will definitely stay again if we are in the area.

From the moment I arrived at the town of Machias, I felt as if I had transported myself back in time. I was welcomed by Terry and she made me feel like a dear family member since the very moment I stepped in the house. The house is like a work of art, it is full of artifacts and antiques very well maintained, still working perfectly! I was impressed with the heating system, (the furnace); with the espresso machine in the kitchen, the piano in the living room, and the old bath tub in the upper bathroom. Everything was always perfectly clean and ready for use. In the house you can breathe peace & harmony. Best of all, the breakfasts! Terry made sure not to leave the house in the morning without having a delicious breakfast. It was made with totally organic products from the region; like blueberries & maple syrup. The breakfast cooked by Terry, is better than any five star hotel continental breakfast! At night, we had long and pleasant conversations and she made sure I was informed of the best attractions to visit and what locals consider the best of Maine. Definitely, I'll stay at her home the next time I visit the wonderful state of Maine.

I had a wonderful stay at Terry's house, where I spent the night before watching the sunrise at Quoddy Head lighthouse the next morning! She was so welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed to be comfortable, plus she gave me advice on where to hike/visit nearby after I had seen the sunrise at Quoddy Head. Her house is beautiful and very cozy--I really wish I could have stayed longer. Thank you, Terry!

Terry is a wonderful host, and her home is spectacular, full of history she's more than happy to share - I'm thinking of the hibachi grill refashioned by her mother as a coffee table, its drawers still stocked with chopsticks, and of the Peruvian chess set housed in a wood case carved by her late husband, and of the espresso machine and grinder and portafilter shot-bucket recovered from a local café. The Bird's Eye room is super cozy. June and Pudd (dog and cat) are sweethearts. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

We spent two nights with Terry, on either end of a long camping trip and it was just what we needed. Her big house is lovely and she immediately made us feel welcomed. Each morning you wake up to homemade granola, Maine blueberries and the only espresso machine in town! what more can you ask for? Terry's house is also has the best location for walking into town or headed over the hill to Obadiah's. If you are new to the area, or not, Terry has a wealth of knowledge and information to help you plan your stay. Thanks Terry! See you next year!

Terry's home was absolutely lovely! Very charming, clean, and comfortable. The room was cozy, and Terry was very welcoming and helpful (glad she gave me the suggestion to get pie at Helen's Restaurant--absolutely amazing!). Also loved meeting her sweet dog since I was missing my pup at home. She had chilled water and a glass ready for me when I arrived--such a nice touch! The house was built in the 1840s, and Terry told me about how she had renovated it over many years--it's beautiful and has a very welcoming atmosphere. One thing that surprised me was how quiet it was. I'd expect a house that old to be really creaky, and it wasn't at all (I was up late and didn't want to wake anyone when I went downstairs). It was a bit hot the day I arrived and there was no AC, but even on the 3rd floor it cooled off at night and I was comfortable sleeping with a window fan. There are quite a few other rooms in the house, all very charming. The only thing I might be concerned about with a longer stay (I stayed 1 night so wasn't gone much) and/or more people in the house is the fact that there aren't locks on the doors. I didn't feel unsafe at all, but I might not have felt comfortable leaving valuables in my room if the house had been full. I'd definitely recommend Terry's place and would love to return if I'm in the area again!

Neighbors and friends know the coffee is always on at my house. I love gardening and taking care of plants and animals alike. I share my house with one friendly cat named Pudd and a wonderful dog named June. I tend to surround myself with creative-types and I live where I live because a sense of place and community is of utmost importance to me. The joy that comes from gathering folks around the table and sharing a good meal, preferably with ingredients picked right from the garden, is what life is all about.
