A quaint, self catering cottage in the heart of the Cotswolds, ideal for couples in need of a country getaway!
Lovely little cottage in a lovely little village. Perfect for a getaway for a couple or as a base to visit nearby Kelmscott of William Morris fame. Tip for walkers: We used this cottage as a base to walk across the fields to Kelmscott and back along the River Thames, unfortunately all in the rain. We found the cottage heating locked down with HIVE and not controllable, but there's a great power shower to warm you up quickly and there's a tumble drier to dry your clothes. The heating does come on, but perhaps not when you'd need it!
Boyfriend and I had a lovely long weekend getaway with our miniature dachshund. As stated in the description it truly is the perfect size for a couple looking to get away (with a lovely big bed). It's a short walk to several restaurants, pubs and cafes so we weren't deprived of options for where to eat at any time of the day! Also several antique shops with hidden treasures. I read the previous reviews about the steep stairs and they weren't kidding, but if you take them one at a time with care then you can't go wrong. A little run down, yes, but great value for money. If I'm ever in the area again I will definitely check availability to stay again!
Nanette was very helpful and accommodating, and quick to reply when I had questions. The cottage is cute, and a pleasant place to stay. Lechlade itself was lovely, and convenient to the places I was visiting. Parking outside the cottage is restricted to 2 hours during the day, but there is plenty of unrestricted parking nearby. I did have a few small complaints, but the cottage was very comfortable, and suited my needs (it was particularly nice to have a washer and dryer available). I would certainly stay here again if I came back to the area.
