Home away from home in the mountains and enjoyable year round restful break from your everyday life in our warm and inviting story book A Frame cabin.

The space

A lovely classic A frame cabin in PlaVada subdivision in Soda Springs.
We are at the Summit of Donner Pass, right off the 80 freeway along the Yuba river in the Sierra mountains.
Cabin has a loft bedroom with a king bed and a second bedroom with 2 twin beds, one has a trundle bed. This is not a '70's decor cabin, this is our home away from home with tempurpedic king bed, pillow top twin beds, down blankets, amazing sheets and thick towels. And help yourself to whatever is in the fridge and cupboards! The deck is ready for relaxation with comfy couch and arm chair, gas fire pit and bbq.
In the evening cuddle up with blanket in front of a wood burning stove and watch a movie on a big tv. We have cable and tons of videos.
This is our second home and the kitchen is equipped with all utensils and ready for you to make a meal.
The cabin is a cozy nest, you will not want to leave.

Guest access

The cabin is 5 minutes to Sugar Bowl Ski Resort and the Royal Gorge X Country. 10 minutes to Boreal and 15 minutes to Truckee for fabulous restaurants and good music.
Beautiful Serene Lakes are minutes away and there is nothing like the Soda Springs general store to take you back to the days gone by of an old school mountain store that stocks just about anything you might need to stay dry and fed.

Elena was a great host and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We made a last minute trip up to Tahoe for some weekend hiking and were so pleased to find this wonderful, homey cabin for our stay. It was cute and had everything we needed. Check-in was totally straightforward. And while it's true they don't have wifi, we were able to use my AT&T phone's hotspot when we needed it without a problem. All in all it was a great stay!

Elena's A-frame was everything we wanted - great location (easy off I-80 and close to Sugar Bowl, Donner, Truckee), cosy, clean and well-equipped, and Elena was easy to communicate with and a very welcoming host. Highly recommended.

We had such a beautiful time in Elena's cabine. We baptised it the ginger bread house and will be forever in our hearts. Super location, super terass with a nice barbecue and a couch to lay down and admire the stars, fall half asleep before getting to the super comfortable beds to finish the night. We will be back !

We had a wonderful time at Elena's cabin over a long weekend. Our favorite thing about the cabin was being able to sit out on the deck by the firepit enjoying a good book and a glass of wine (Elena generously left a wonderful bottle of red for us). Be advised that you can hear the interstate traffic from the back deck, but it's not overly intrusive. Otherwise it's a very quiet neighborhood. The kitchen was well-stocked and we were able to make some home-cooked meals during our stay. During one colder evening, we warmed up using the wood-burning stove and enjoyed watching a DVD from the wide selection available. The king-sized bed in the loft is absolutely divine, as are the pillows. Our daughter stayed in the downstairs bedroom and was quite comfortable. During the day, we hiked to Mt. Judah from Donner Pass (thanks to the hiking book that Elena provided), biked from Squaw Valley to Tahoe City (rented bikes from Factory Bike-highly recommended), and did some rock climbing near Soda Springs. We also enjoyed checking out the abandoned railroad tunnels, China Wall and ancient petroglyphs near Donner Pass. Truckee is about a 15-20 minute drive down the highway. We highly recommend Zuri for coffee and MakiAli for fresh and creative sushi. Elena was very communicative throughout our stay, and check-in/check-out was super easy. We highly recommend her cozy, comfy cabin for anyone interested in checking out the North Lake Tahoe area.

Elena and the cabin were awesome! She was so great about check in instructions and tips about the cabin. It's such a cozy cabin that made our trip super comfortable and enjoyable. Super peaceful and away from the business but also not a far drive from Tahoe at all. It was a great spot we hope to visit again, thanks to Elena!

This place was wonderful. Everything was perfect for me and my friends here. Very quiet place to enjoy some fresh outdoors or to hangout in a cozy cabin to watch some movies. If ylu are looking for a remote, quiet place to relax this is the place.
