About this listing

Our 2 bed/2 bath apartment is truly one of kind (it's true, read the reviews!) Renovated with award winning architects Splinter Society, this inner city pad is close to the action, but also an oasis with its 3rd story private rooftop terrace (actual rooftop view above!)

The space

One of a handful apartments in one of Fitzroy's most recognised and treasured buildings, Beswicke Terrace. This apartment is a modern, light filled inner city pad, in an amazing late 1800's building. Designed by renowned architect John Beswicke in 1888, and under the highest level of heritage protection, Beswicke Terrace is one of a kind. The recent renovation has seen bespoke cabinetry throughout, two new bathrooms (1 with double rainhead shower, the other with a bath and shower), a gourmet kitchen and a private 20 square metre deck with 360° uninterrupted views of Melbourne City, Fitzroy and Collingwood. Television show Offspring shoot their city scape panoramas from our deck, it truly is the perfect spot to watch the sunset with a glass of wine.

A full kitchen with coffee machine, cookware, and all the appliances you need will let you make amazing meals. Set amongst many fabulous artisan suppliers you will be literally over the road from an alimentary (deli), a fruit & veg shop and a boutique wine store. If you do run out of pots and pans and cutlery, just pop them in the dishwasher and start again. If you feel like getting outdoors, there is a weber on the deck ready for a barbeque! Wifi is complimentary, as well as a thought out selection of novels, CD’s, and DVD’s.

The laundry has washer and dryer available for guest use (all bed linen and towels are professionally laundered).

Both bedrooms have wall heaters and additional blankets. The lounge room has both a wall heater and a split system air conditioner.

There is a parking permit for one car for on street parking.

If Bewsicke is booked for your dates, please see my other property "Keeley Lane" in nearby Carlton North - a gorgeous architect designed terrace house, decorated with our discerning eye.

Often referred to as Australia’s Shoreditch or Williamsburg, Fitzroy has it all. As a local how would I describe Fitzroy, it is many different things to many different people...

If you like street art you are in the heart of the Melbourne scene where every turn of every corner reveals something wonderfully unexpected.

If you like casual cafes you are literally living above The Black Cat (another Offspring shoot locale). Industry Beans coffee roasters is down the road, Proud Mary and Sojo nearer to Smith Street and über hipster Grub is just two streets away.

If restaurants what excites you then you are in foodie heaven - St Crispin and IDES on nearby Smith Street won't give you menus, just select your number of courses and let the food arrive. Gertrude Street boasts high end and super fancy Cutler & Co, homely and french inspired Enoteca, little spanish superstar Anada and lovers of a charcoal grill Casa Ciuccio, just to name a few. Brunswick Street has the two hatted Matteos, sushi heaven at Ichi Ni Nana, vegetarian superstars Transformer and Smith & Daughters, and tapas in the sky at Naked for Satan. And that's just a teaser of what's in walking distance....

If you like fashion and want to hit the shops you have everything from Gertrude Streets independent boutiques to Smith Streets factory outlets.

And I haven't even mentioned Fitzroy's famous nightlife... Fitzroy is the bar capital of Australia and boasts world class cocktail bars, back street pubs, late night dive bars and everything else in between!

And if all that isn't enough for you, the city is a mere 10 minute walk away with more bars, more shopping, more amazing restaurants. A 20 minute walk could take you to the theatre district, the NGV, ACMI, and Fed Square, the MCG, the Tennis Centre and AAMI stadium and the Botanical Gardens.

The 11 tram on Brunswick St goes to St Kilda. The 86 tram on Smith St can take you to Northcote or to the Docklands. The 96 tram on Nicholson will take you to Brunswick or to St Kilda. And the 109 on Victoria St will take you to Port Melbourne. Parliament Train Station is a 10 minute walk.

Because access is via a staircase, this apartment is not suitable for wheelchair access or people experiencing mobility issues.

What a place. This is a must if you stay in Melbourne. Right in the middle of a cool area with views of pretty much everything! Easy communication, clean and tidy, comfortable and the place has heaps of character. Highly recommended

Great apartment in Fitzroy. Close to everything you need... public transportation, restaurants and some of the best coffee shops we have experienced. Rebecca and her family went out of there way to take us on short notice, met us at the apartments and showed us around a bit. Don't hesititate to book this apt.with great views into downtown Melbourne and beyond.

This is our first time of Airbnb and we are grateful we have made a wise decision. This place is amazingly beautiful. Those nice pictures of the apartment are real - not products of Photoshop. We love the roof top terrace, which is the highest at the neighborhood - so you don't have to worry about privacy. Rebecca was kind enough to offer us an early check-in. We came for the Grand Prix and surprisingly found a circuit map printed for us!

The place and location are superb - very clean and hip. The only complaint would be that the Wifi is not perfect.

Response from Rebecca:
Hi Frank, thanks for the feedback regarding the wifi. I have a new provider installing a different system this week which should fix the current slow spots.

We both come from artistic and creative backgrounds, I've worked in visual display propping, visual merchandising and fashion in my career. My husband builds and designs bars and venues with an eye for colour, lighting and design.
We now have two properties on Airbnb (and a third in the pipeline!) and all meet our specific criteria: the must be unique; they must be in food and bar destinations; they must have an explosion of art and design; they must have a soul.
We own our properties, we put our heart and soul into each of them to ensure our guests have an experience that is of the standard and quality we would like. Like you, we use airbnb when we travel – how much better to live somewhere, than merely visit. How much more amazing to experience a place when you can purchase the food at the farmer’s market and cook an amazing meal, when you have a rooftop deck to enjoy a cheese board and a glass of wine, to not have to rush out the door in the morning to make the breakfast buffet!
Food, wine and art are our passions, each property comes with a very detailed guidebook recommending the best of the local haunts, and each is located in any area that has so much to offer.
Hosting has become a new passion of mine, one that I am sure you will feel when you stay in any of our properties.
