Renovated apartment created by a plastic artist, Tomas Colaco, located in one of the most typical neighborhoods of Lisbon, where the fishermen lived and "varinas" (the fish vendors). It's apedestrian neighborhood, where people live much in the street

The space

This was Tomas Colaco working studio in Lisbon. At night, the appartement has a great light coming from the street and it look like we are in a piece of art because Tomas Colaço help us to decorate the appartement because he like to leave is signature were he went by. Every body loves to stay here because is cozy and confortable. Very easy to heat in winter.

There is a double bed and shape sofa that someone can stay or even two kids. If the kids are under 14, we don`t charge more.

Guest access

It`s a walking neighborhood and who comes here say`s it`s to live in a village in the middle of Lisbon. It`s near Santos, Jardim da Estrela, São Bento (Parlament House), near the river, near the train station to Cascais, near Bairro Alto, near Janelas Verdes (Museu de Arte Antiga), near the best restaurants in Lisbon. A quiet and pleasant place.

Interaction with guests

I live just next door so any thing I can resolve really fast. I love Lisboa and the little details that the city has...and I`m always learning new things about the city.

Other things to note

We just hope you like this place as much as we do.

Excellent host. Spacious apartment. Some interesting choices for restaurants in the area. Neighborhood is quiet. Not where you will “hang out,” but a nice location within the center of Lisbon. Everything is walkable.

My partner and I are just back from a week's stay in Rare Spot and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The pictures on Airbnb are true to life. The paintings on the walls throughout the apartment by local artist, Tomas Colaco were beautiful and created a wonderful atmosphere, especially at night. On the first day we arrived our host Catarina was so helpful and gave us great tips on where to go and visit and where to eat. Catarina and her husband Felipe live next door which is very convenient. The apartment is within walking distance to the city, we walked everywhere! One thing to note is the area is very hilly and not for the fainthearted in extreme heat! We ate out every night and two restaurants we found to be good were Popola which is about 10 minutes walk away and Pratinho Feio which is about 5 minutes walk away. We found the food in Lisbon to be delicious and so cheap compared to Dublin! We took a day trip on the train to Cascais (the train station Cais do Sodre is only 10 minutes walk away) which is a beautiful place. All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed our first trip to Lisbon and are so glad we chose to stay in Rare Spot! We will be back! Michele and Sean

Could not have been better. Catarina' s place is beyond cute, convenient, clean and cozy, it is a truly special location and ambience in a part of town that is close enough to the center but refreshingly away from the tourist throngs.

Don't pass up the chance to stay at Catarina's home! It is absolutely beautiful and comfortable and in the perfect location...not far from places we wanted to go (or transportation to get to other things) but just far enough to be away from the "tourists". It is better than the pictures! Catarina, her husband and her son greeted us warmly and we knew right off the bat it was going to be a wonderful place to stay. Catarina was very responsive and even had important information and suggestions ready for us when we arrived. Catarina had towels, shampoo, hair dryer, etc for us to use if we needed them. We LOVED our time in Portugal and staying at Catarina's home made us feel like we were living there. It made our wonderful trip even that much more special. We enjoyed opening up the windows and letting the fresh air in through the apartment. It was bigger than we expected and the short flight of stairs to get to the apartment is not bad at all. We felt very safe in the neighborhood and it was quiet. Follow Catarina's directions on how to get to the apartment and it easy to find. You will very much enjoy "Rare Spot"!!

We loved our stay at Catarina's place. It is super comfortable, and very well equipped, with a full kitchen. The place is beautiful (with original art covering almost every surface), and the location is fantastic. Everything we needed during our stay was close by in the neighborhood, and most of the people on the street were local people going about their day. Catarina was a great host, who took the time to orient us, give us tips and suggestions, and also just chat about life in general. We would definitely recommend staying at her apartment!

Catarina was an awesome hostess. The apartment is beautiful, even more than the pictures show. It is in a perfect location easily accessible to food, transportation and sights to see. I would love to return and stay again. Obrigada!

A very beautiful, unique, cozy (but not small) space unlike any other Airbnb. While centrally located in Santos, it is off in a corner on top of a hill and very quiet & secluded from the hustle and bustle of sometimes loud Lisbon nightlife. Recommended for anyone looking for a unique and affordable spot in Lisboa.

I was born in Lisbon at the Bairro Alto so I always wanted to live in typical neighborhoods. It is like living in a little village, where all the neighbors know who you are. and that is something very interesting because I´m still looking for my self. I`m a Lisbon Lover, I like …
