Perfect room for traveling to our nation's Capital. This 100 year old home is recently renovated yet retains all the charms of wood floors and cozy radiator heat. 10 minute walk to the metro (red line) and one block to major bus lines.

The space

Guest will have access to the kitchen, dining room, and laundry. The only room I keep for me is the living room so that my partner and I have a place to ourselves.

I love meeting new people but I'm not in your face. Chit chat with me at the dinner table or dash in and out of the house.

Quiet and cute little neighborhood. And if you plan to cook for yourself while you are staying with me the Safeway grocery is less than a block away.

10-12 minute walk to the Tacoma Park metro stop on the red line (exactly .7 miles) and a block from major bus lines that can get you into Downtown and Chinatown quickly.

I'm starting out my daily rental price low to build a good reputation on AirBnB.

Street parking available and not crowded in my neighborhood.

Bathroom is shared with one other person and is right outside of your room. Very convenient.

Guest access

Guest will have access to the kitchen, dining room, and laundry. The only room I keep for me is the living room so that my partner and I have a place to ourselves.

Interaction with guests

Other things to note

Please do not inquire about special discounts for longer term rentals. The price of the room is already competitively priced for the area and has been in high demand since being listed. Keep in mind prices include utilities, which is often not included in other non-AirBnB rentals. Longer term rentals preferred.

There are no permanent pets in the house but occasionally my girlfriends dog comes to visit for a few days.

Jon a great host, he waited for me in the night. The room is cozy, and the location is good - Safeway and CVS near, bus stop in 5 min by walk. Also, neighborhoud is pretty quiet. People in the home are very friendly.

My first airbnb experience, and Jon made sure it was great. The attic room was very comfortable and he makes sure everyone feels comfortable. Couldn't recommend it enough.

I enjoyed staying at Jon's place for a little over three months. The room receives a lot of natural sunlight and the bed is comfortable. There is a desk and wardrobe as shown in the photograph, as well as some drawers for clothes and personal items. Being in the loft space, it is also very quiet. Most key kitchen equipment is available, a washer and dryer are provided in the basement, and there are common spaces within the house, including a living room and dining room, although most guests when I stayed tended to keep largely to themselves. Nevertheless, Jon and his guests were all very friendly and contributed to building a cordial atmosphere; I enjoyed living with all of them. Jon asks that guests clean up after themselves; a policy to which everybody largely adhered but there were times when the kitchen and bathroom could have been a little cleaner. However, this depends upon personal expectations and I realise that I may be a bit more demanding than others! The neighbourhood is quiet and residential, but with plenty of local amenities including a Safeway opposite and a Walmart a few blocks south. Takoma metro station is only around 10 minutes' walk away, as described in the listing. The Takoma and Takoma Park districts as a whole are very pretty and contain good, independent coffee shops and stores. Jon is a really personable guy who shows an interest in all of his guests, whilst being respectful of personal boundaries. Although he is often at work, he is a great person to talk to when he is around the house, and responds to emails promptly. Thank you, Jon, I had an excellent time and would highly recommend your home to prospective visitors!

Jon's place was very convenient! I stayed for a month and a half, while looking for a more permanent place. Jon was very accommodating during my stay, and I really enjoyed getting to know him!

I'm a small business owner in Washington DC (You can web search JONWYE to find out more) and I've just bought this super nice house in NW DC. I've lived here most of my life and really love DC and being in the mix of all the activity.

I've watched it change from a city with no youthful population to one of the most exciting cities in which to live.

When I am not working I have a wonderfully artistic group of friends to distract me with new city adventures. I love talking about space and science, wishing that could have been my career path had I been more math adept.

Because of the nature of my job I am very outgoing and friendly and try to surround myself with good people. Please don't request a room if the art of cordiality is lost on you.

The house is perfect for those coming to DC for internships, fellowships, and new permanent residents looking to acclimate to a new city.

Currently I have a Peace Corp volunteer and a foreign journalist renting. It's a good group.
