This is a bright and pleasant bohemian apartment in one of the best neighborhoods in Brooklyn. Close to the recreational waterfront, it has running and biking paths, excellent restaurants, friendly neighbors, trees, front yards and low car traffic.

The space

Please note this apartment is only currently available from Feb 13th-Feb 22nd! This apartment is charming with a lot of light that gives it an airy feeling. You will see sky from the windows on either end of the apartment.

The neighborhood is ideal--nestled between lush Carroll Gardens and hip Red Hook, it is called the Columbia Street Waterfront. The layout is a modified open railroad, with two smaller rooms (kitchen and kids room) off the main three rooms (dining, living and main bedroom) The drawbacks of the apartment: small bathroom with stall shower. Also the kitchen is small, but it is well stocked and functions well. Walking distance to the G and F trains at the Carroll stop (12-15 minutes). In addition, the B61 bus stops 1 block away and will take you to the hub subway station Borough Hall in downtown Brooklyn in minutes. You can also walk to downtown Brooklyn, it takes about 20 minutes.
Some legendary restaurants very close by are Pok Pok and Alma, with its skyline views from the top floor. You are a 10 minute walk from the newly renovated Brooklyn waterfront where you can enjoy skyline views of Manhattan while you play volleyball, walk, run, play soccer, launch a kayak, play basketball, watch outdoor movies and more. You can take the waterfront all the way around to the Brooklyn bridge and DUMBO.

Other things to note

This is a three unit building and right now only the top two floors are occupied. I do not have a TV. The kitchen is small but functional and fully stocked with all the basics you will need to cook your own meals, like olive oil, salt, sugar, etc. Some noteworthy spots nearby: Famous local bakery called Mazzola's a few blocks away, and legendaryThai restaurant called Pok Pok, upscale Mexican with a tremendous view at Alma, & bring your own bottle Le Petite Crevetter, one block away. Take in the locals at Bar Bruno, neighborhood restaurant and hangout. See art and live music/performances at Pioneer Works, ten minutes walk away in Red Hook. Groceries can be had a few blocks away at KeyFood on Henry and Sackett streets or the legendary Fairway market on Red Hook waterfront. My downstairs neighbor is like the unofficial mayor of the block--he is a character and he likes to hang out on the building's stoop. He is a sweet and helpful guy, if a little odd. In other words--the neighborhood has lots of local color.

My stay at Rebecca's was remarkable. Being my very first Airbnb experience, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. The apartment was just as advertised, clean with lots of natural light and ventilation. I did not need the AC or fan at all. However, the bathroom is very small. The apartment was super easy to find on my own in a new area. The neighbourhood was very safe (even at 4am in the morning), with lots of shops, markets and friendly folk. The only thing was the length of walk to the subway station (about 5-6 blocks)...but I needed the exercise anyhow, lol. Although, I didn't get to meet Rebecca in person...she was most helpful and responsive before, throughout and after my stay. I would highly recommend this cozy apartment to anyone. Made me feel like a real New Yorker!
