Large private bedroom, new mattress, HEPA air filter/ white noise machine, ample storage. Great for sleeping.
Huge private living room w 2 velvet couches and velvet drapes, perfect for lounging. 10 ft ceilings, wood floors. KILLER location, calm hostess, cute cats!

The space

This is a 1100 square foot apartment that is an entire top floor of a 3 story building. The entire apartment has hardwood floors, 10 foot high pressed tin ceilings, cool vintage furnishings. I'm an artist who has lived here for years so it's an established home with flavor and soul. The place is charming: HUGE, pretty, relaxed, perfect for a fun visit to NYC or a work trip. Master bedroom sleeps two (you!) side bedroom sleeps one
( me!) . I have two very nice, well behaved cats. You can hang out with them or not as you like. I am easygoing and can be a social guide or not as you wish! Location is fantastic - steps from the J, walking distance from all great williamsburg attractions.

PRIVATE SPACE
The private area for you is the two front rooms- the pink living room and the brown bedroom in the pictures. The bedroom has a brand new full mattress, brass bed, nice rug, ample closet and storage space, HEPA air purifier/ white noise machine, iron, hair dryer. It's great for sleeping.

The bedroom flows into a giant living room , with 2 velvet couches, 2 big windows, velvet curtains, deco silk rug, tons of books, etc. It's one huge 500 SF space.
This is all a private space. The bedroom has a door that separates it from the kitchen.

SHARED SPACE - KITCHEN
The bedroom has a door leading to a large shared kitchen, which has a dining table and a couch with a very view of a pretty park in the back.
You can cook in the kitchen if you like, I have everything.

Out the back kitchen window, there is a private outdoor garden area where you can chill and smoke cigarettes or sunbathe. It faces a nice park which is restful and secluded.

BATHROOM
The shared bathroom is a marvel of bohemian splendor ( see pix). It has a separate shower and tub. Unfortunately the tub is purely ornamental. )-:
The shower stall is clean and new.

LOCATION
The apartment is in South Williamsburg, steps from the train, very convenient to Manhattan, very near all the food/ music, art/ shopping/waterfront attractions of Williamsburg, including Marlow & Sons, Baby's all Right, Knitting Factory, Pies and Thighs, Williamsburg waterfront. Its a killer combination of an old school artistic lofty place, in an amazing location.
Price includes wifi and electric.
Laundry, produce, liquor/ wine, are steps away.

Interaction with guests

I will be living in a small side bedroom. It is off a shared hall but there is total auditory privacy. I will be sharing the kitchen and bathroom with you.

I am sensitive to people's needs and I want you to be happy. I have traveled quite a bit , Im a grownup, and I'm very easygoing. Our social interactions can run the gamut from making new friends to the pure silence of business in and out - it's up to you, I'm fine in whatever circumstance.

During the day I may be out working or I may sometimes work quietly on my computer at the kitchen table. However there is either plenty of space to share, or I will most likely clear out and give you your space. I like meeting new people and I like helping people enjoy NYC but I also respect your privacy. (-:

I have subway maps and can point you to the best stuff in NYC and Williamsburg, etc.

Other things to note

FUN FACTS:
I do not have a TV or cable TV.
I have Netflix
I do not have a microwave.
I speak some Spanish and a little bit of French.

PLEASE NOTE : The J train goes by the living room windows close to the apartment, which may seem insane but does not actually interfere with sleeping. I have the white noise / air filter and giant velvet curtains which block the light and make the bedroom a fantastic sleep chamber. ( see pix).

The apartment is a railroad that has its own landing and interior staircase and hallway leading to the kitchen, bedroom, and giving room, so it feels very private and restful.
I have tons of books to read ( art, film, fiction) and its an easy apartment to write/work in.
Then apartment is very charming and I am a very reasonable person so I'm always up to help or work anything out if you have issues
Sheets and blankets and towels are provided.
There is no laundry in the building but there is a laundromat on the corner.
You do not have to do any maintenance for the cats at all.
I have an iron, hairdryer, heater, ac, fan...

Kate was really sweet and accommodating and had great suggestions for breakfast when we asked. Her kitties were adorable and the place was super comfortable and more than enough space, especially for the city.

Kate is an amazing host. Really enjoy chatting with her and hanging out with her in the neighborhood. More than providing a clean room, She provides a real life immersion experience of her own intersting life in the lovely vintage apartment. Subway is right out the door. Living here and talking to her is one of the best parts of my NYC trip!

Kate's house is one of the best houses I've ever been in years of travelling around the world. If it looks awesome in the picture, well, it will look even better when you will stay there. The atmosphere is cozy, all the things in the house are fascinating and you have all sorts of services within a 2-minute walking distance, including a metro stop right in front of the door, which is rare and SO useful, when you move in such a big city and you come back at night. Don't worry about the noise coming from the metro stop, because you won't hear any or you will get use to it so quickly. We used the white noise machine just the first night (my travel mate is a light sleeper and slept like a baby any single night) then we found out there was no need to use it. The house is extremely clean, Kate will make sure you will have all the things you need, and will always be ready to advice you about places, tours or interesting things to see. The position is right in the middle of a vibrant and safe area, either in the day and in the night. My advice? Spend some time talking with her because she's one of the best persons I've ever met in travels, it really worth it! We felt like we've found a long time friend in NY, but hey, If you're not in the mood of having human contacts, it will be fine as well, because she is so respectful of guests, so definitely - this is the place. Last but not least (this is an added value alert!) two friendly cats live in the house, they're so nice and for sure if you will show interest they will give you some love in return. If you're not a cat person, they will stay on their own. They're so smart :) (and we still miss em too much). Seriously, this is one of the most amazing places I've ever been in years of travelling. For sure any time I will be back in Brooklyn, this will be my first choice.
