Where you’ll be

Veysonnaz, Switzerland

Summer in Veysonnaz:

Hiking, mountain biking, e-bikes, climbing, tennis, golf, barefoot walking, outdoor swimming, stunning wildflowers and leisurely lunches in the sun – there is as much, if not more to explore in summer! Valais is said to have the highest number of sunshine days in Switzerland, with a little microclimate perfectly suited to growing fruit, such as apricots and vines.
We have listed a few ideas below, the Veysonnaz télécabine will be open for summer through July and August with final dates being confirmed nearer the time.

Hiking- the hiking is unlimited from leisurely strolls to challenging hiking and climbing. Maps with details of the main walks can be collected from the tourist information.
The Bisse de Vex is a wonderful, flat footpath, that winds through the forests and around the hillsides following old irrigation channels. Perfect for families and pushchair friendly with yoga and exercise spots dotted along the way. Wander to Café du Bisse for ice cream. Part of the path has been modified for wheelchair access.

Mountain biking and e-bikes – a popular activity in summer with many trails and routes in the area. The village also now has e-bikes available for hire with charging stations at various mountains restaurants.

Swimming – Nendaz has an outdoor pool open in the summer months, do check summer opening first. The Hotel 4 Vallées offers a full spa all year (with children's area) and the nearby Eringer Hotel will open a spa soon.

Watersports and surfing – for water based activities head to Domaines des Iles in Sion for stand-up paddle boarding, swimming and giant inflatables or visit the new surf centre at Alaia Bay in Sion for lessons or just to watch from the restaurant and bar!

Golf – Golf Club de Sion welcomes visitors to the driving range or for 9 or 18 holes. You can also hire clubs if you travelled without. We recommend speaking to them before hand to check availability,

Tennis – Veysonnaz has two all weather courts for hire and we have racquets and balls available at the chalet.

Yoga lessons are available through the summer, enjoy boules or petanque in the shade of the forest or join a group to follow the winding roads down through the meadows on a cross-country scooter! We also have yoga mats at the chalet to use indoors or on the deck and a set of boules.

Day trips – As in winter, Ovronnaz, Sion and Mont Fort make great day trips, as do tours of the local vineyards. Chateau Constellation is at the bottom of the hill and you can pop in for wine tastings all year round (large groups can reserve).

- Annual festivals and events - there are various events each summer such as the wine tasting at Cave Ouvertes (May), ‘inalpe’ ascent of the cows to higher pastures (June) and the Combat des Reines (bloodless cow fighting) (June) .

Winter in Veysonnaz:

Skiing, snowboarding, snow shoeing….. Veysonnaz is best known for its incredible mountains. With access to 410km of pistes, the idyllic La Printze ski area just above the village and the extensive, world famous Verbier 4 Vallées for more experienced winter sports fans! Thyon is also well known for freestyle skiing and snowboarding with a snow park and events through the season.

The best way to access the Veysonnaz télécabine is using the free ski bus from directly outside the chalet. For lift passes, consider La Printze if you are a beginner or with young children and unlikely to use the full 4 valleys pass. You can upgrade any day!

- Beginner slopes and ski school meeting points are at the top of the Veysonnaz télécabine.

- Extensive hiking and snow shoeing routes around the village, explore the gentle Bisse through the forests or take the Veysonnaz télecabine and walk to Les Chottes for lunch. Guided walks and snowshoeing groups are also available, ask the tourist information for details.

- Lessons and equipment hire - Ecole de Ski Suisse and Neige Aventure are the main ski schools, both offer lessons in English and French and there are several shops offering equipment hire. Once booked we can offer 10% discounts on equipment hire and lessons.

- Events and activities - Check out the site for the latest events. Highlights in winter are the magical fairy lit walk along the Bisse, regular torch lit descents and fireworks.

- Spa and relaxation - a great spa in the area is at the Hotel 4 Vallées in Nendaz. A large indoor / outdoor spa with a specific baby and young children’s area.

- Day trips – try the Ovronnaz thermal springs, Les Bains de Lavey, Sion for its castles, or take the cable car to the top of Mont Fort on a clear day for spectacular views (for non-skiers you connect from Siviez). For a day of retail therapy head down to Sion or Conthey. With department stores such as Manor and the main retail names, Sion also offers local shops and a Friday market in the Vieille Ville.
