Fraser Island is a spritual oasis, revered as sacred by the indigenous people for millenia and known as K'gari (prounounced 'Gurri') by the local Butchulla peoples as a 'place of paradise.' We ask that is is respected as such.

A long-deserved nature getaway with our family of 7 for ten days in June 2015. Our first visit to Fraser. The house was lovely. We watched the sun go down over the sandy strait from the beautiful wood chair and tables on the balcony. It wasn't hard, we were less than 50m from the water with views interrupted only occasionally by native trees. We slept to the sound of silence interrupted only with animals doing their nocturnal rituals in the bush. Oh and the sound of water lapping on the shore (something my wife and I seek on most holidays). We woke in the morning to coffee made in the supplied drip filter machine or the old Italian-style percolator, something we were pleased to learn to master. (Note: Bring lots of ground coffee if you are a coffee lover. You will want it for those long lazy chats.) The resort was far enough that we felt apart from it and close enough that we could wander down there and take part in activities whenever we chose. A personal favourite was walking down by the beach, which often felt like it was our own, to the jetty bar for a spot of fishing, an icy pole for the kids, coffee or sunset with a prawn platter and champagne. To which I spoilt my wife rotten on our last evening. The house is really 2 sections each with 2 floors. Both with views of the sandy strait, which as I said, is magnificent. Each section is separated by a balcony area with separate key-locked doors. This bring us to our 2 only very minor drawbacks of the house, and they are minor: locking and unlocking those doors became somewhat tedious. We had small kids with us, so locking was a necessity. If they were older or adults, I would just leave them open. Second is the stairs (I did say minor). With 3 small kids we are not fans of stairs, but we certainly got fit going up and down. The kitchen was perfect for creating most meals. Remember to bring lots of your own food from the mainland. And bring a roll of glad wrap. Oh and lots of ground coffee, did I say that already? ;) When we got tired of cooking, or wanted some time away from the kids, we just went down the resort and ate in one of the 3 restaurants. The food was average but ok for holiday fare. We highly recommend the SeaBelle restaurant for some high quality australian native inspired bush food. Expensive but totally worth it. What else can I say? There is plenty of room to park your 4wd. No garage access, but that isn't really a consideration. We took our sedan as we had no plans to take our own 4wd throughout the island. I expect most people would be planning to do this. There is hire 4wd available and regular tours where someone else does all the driving. (You simply...
