I had the greatest stay here. Richard the host is extremely nice and helpful, he not only arranged for me the main tours and attractions, he also showed me some very special place, like some beautiful hot springs, that only the locals know about. The house is amazing, great view and all kinds of wildlife right at the window. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Richard's place was great - accessing the city of Monteverde is no easy feat, but once you're in town his place is very accessible. He has great recommendations for food and things to do in the area. While the rental property is on the same lot as his home, we found that the property was more than private (totally blocked from view/sound by forest) and he respected our privacy the whole time. Had AMAZING views from a sunroom. Beds were comfy. Shower was awesome. He has a friendly cat that may come say hello. Some bugs, but that's Costa Rica for you. Had a great stay and would definitely recommend if you're in Monteverde and want a break from the bustle of the town!

This is an awesome cottage, tucked away in the woods. Awesome views, clean and well kept. Ideal for a getaway to explore the surrounding nature. Don't expect luxury, but clean, comfortable and surrounded by nature. With the curtains open, it felt like I was sleeping outdoors under the stars. Richard provided excellent directions, easy check in/out, wonderful recommendations and great communications. Will stay again.

Despite many twists and turns to get to the house, it's like a diamond in the rough. Richard was so easy to communicate with. The home had the most perfect view when the fog broke and was ideal if you enjoy the sound of rain. It was also very clean- from the HUGE shower to the bedroom. The house is surrounded by nature and close to many tours. Highly recommend taking all of Richard's suggestions on fun and grub in the area. Checking in and out was easy too. Very accomadating. Highly recommend on so many levels!

The property is private and secluded yet easy to find with Richard's instructions. It's set in the hills a short drive away from Santa Elena and the Monteverde national park beyond. Fantastic views of the hills and gulf of Nicoya. Also great for bird watching as many come to visit the local flora. The kitchen was well equipped for our purposes. A TV and DVD is provided (no satellite) with lots of great films to enjoy. The WiFi was both strong and consistent throughout our stay. It was a nice touch that Richard's mother had produced lots of locally influenced art for the walls. Richard was incredibly helpful when we arrived and gave us lots of local knowledge about what to do in the area. In fact his suggestion to visit the free orchid garden and workshop down the road was one of the highlights of our trip. The owner there (Licho) was very enthusiastic and gave us a tour including tasting his diverse range of herbs. He was excellent at spotting the local tropical birds in the garden, demonstrated his rosewood turning and even showed us a giant Hercules beetle we could safely hold. Richard left is to our own devices during out stay but does stay onsite during the day to look after both properties. He was contactable in the evenings via AirBnB messaging. All in all a great experience.

This spot is great. Definitely secluded and quiet. Exactly as described in the ad. Richard was incredibly thorough in his introduction to Monte Verde and then gave us our privacy while still very responsive if we needed him. We had a great time.
