Queer friendly (we are all gay or trans) in a SHARED HOUSE, a few cool, quiet folks live here. We are a radical queer political collective; there is lots of art, a great library, board games, and food you are welcome to share here.

Huge well preserved historic home in the historic district of Highland Park (Detroit), which is a great family-centered black neighborhood. Anti-racist folks welcome here!

The space
You are booking two bedrooms with a connecting bath. The other areas of the house are shared, and you are welcome to access them, including large kitchen with all the essentials for you to use, living room with gas fireplace, huge parklike yard, laundry room, dining room, etc.

We love our huge old house, and think the charms vastly outweigh the quirks, but some things to note:

- No Air Conditioning as we've listed
- your shower water pressure/temperature is variable on second floor; your bath tub works great!
- interior old wooden doors stick/don't shut super tight, sorry!
- and some misc other little weird things of living in an old house...

Guest access
Two bedrooms (private), bathroom (private), half bathroom (first floor shared), kitchen, laundry room, living room, dining room, yard, firepit, front porch.

Other things to note
FREE parking on the residential street right in front of the house for at least two vehicles.

Location

Highland Park, Michigan, United States

This house is in the Highland Park Historic District, a charming residential neighborhood known as the "City of Trees" just north of Midtown and Wayne State and Hospital Campuses, between the larger Boston Edison and Virginia Park Historic Districts.

This is a historically (and currently) black working class family neighborhood; it's great, we love living here, the neighbors are really friendly. We expect guests to maintain great relationships with the neighbors and passerby! Please be sure you are excited to live in a neighborhood with black and diverse folks before booking.

I'm a queer radical activist and artist living in Detroit (in the Historic District of Highland Park!). I've lived in the Detroit area my whole life, so I'm an expert. Especially on weird stuff and local subcultures, art, and events. As well as places to eat!

During your stay
The bedrooms and ensuite connecting bathroom are private to you. We live in the shared house as well, so we are available for anything you need or to socialize sometimes (and can give you lots of local info!), but give you lots of privacy.

This is a private home, but full of community -- we host occasional dinners and music, we rescue food and clothing donations and distribute those, we host community development meetings and workshops.

Most days (and especially nights) it's quiet -- and your room is on the second floor away from most common areas, but some days there are things going on.
