Outstanding experience! Christophe and Benedicte were wonderful, gracious hosts. Everything was perfect! Chateau Couronneau is a beautiful castle in the vineyards. The accommodations were spacious, the beds were comfortable and had quality bedding, the kitchen was well equipped, the showers were really great and to top it all off the wine they produce is delicious!

We received a charming and very warm welcome at Ligeaux. Once Benedicte had shown us our room we met Christophe and we all sat together on the terrace and enjoyed a glass of wine, olives and tomatoes and had a long chat about the winery which they run at La Couronneau. The vineyards around, this most beautiful Chateau, are superb and we spent some precious time walking around the property. We also had a very detailed tour of the winery which was extremely interesting. Our room was beautiful, clean and with the addition of a lovely vase of flowers, we could not ask for more. The restoration of the Chateau is outstanding.

I have stayed in many magnificent French homes during the last three months but not one can match the old world romantic atmosphere that this grass moated chateau exudes. Christophe and Benedicte have created a wonderful home which exemplifies simple French country living at its best. They bought the place as a ruin about 20 years ago and have been slowly restoring, and tastefully decorating the chateau ever since. They also run a successful organic vineyard and are kept busy exporting their wines around the world. Benedicte is a charming hostess with a cheerful sense of humour and is always ready to help and advise when asked. English is spoken well by everyone, including attractive 15 year old Hortense. Situated a short distance from Bergerac, the chateau is the perfect place from which to explore this part of the Dordogne, though I am guessing that you will find it hard to leave and would rather relax by the pool and think about what you would do if you were lucky enough to own a home like this. Highly recommended Two times 5 star rating.
