With one large bedroom, a roomy living room, kitchen and a bathroom you will comfortably fit a family of four or five. It is like an apartment but we share the same entrance and shower. Have your morning coffee in the garden with the chickens or take a 5 minute walk down the beach. Welcome!

The space
Welcome to a very warm friendly home! It’s a very old house but very homely atmosphere. Don’t be surprised if you find fresh eggs on your doorstep, fresh fruits from the garden or possibly even a loaf of Graham’s famous fantastic sourdough bread...
There is actually room for another 2-3 people(although there’s an extra fee for more than 2 people not counting children), with a bed sofa and extra mattresses, so no problem for a family with children.

The apartment takes up almost the whole second floor of our house. Shared space is entrance, shower and garden. Bathroom upstairs is only used for guests. Kitchen has all amenities. Free access to the garden with a bbq.

We always provide our guests with maps and updated information about what to do on the island. We are home a lot and live a very quiet life but occasionally enjoy playing loud music(especially the husband who used to work in a music shop) and watching scary movies. Never late at night though and we would not be offended if a guest told us to turn it down.

Hönö (Hen island) is one of ten islands in the northern archipelago just outside Gothenburg. Hönö has two stunning nature reserves, beaches, shops, pubs, bowling and friendly people. It’s very popular for birdwatching and bouldering. Last but not least you can still go out in the mountains and not meet one human being for hours.

Our neighbourhood Gårda, is one of the few areas on Hönö still well preserved as it was in the old days. Our house was built 1904 by my great-grandfather with timber from an old ship. You can read more at henisland.wordpress.com.

Free parking outside the house. Bus 291 stops right outside and comfortably takes you into Gothenburg within an hour. When there’s no direct bus it’s a 20min walk to the ferry to catch a bus on the other side. You can rent bikes down the harbour or by the ferry.

We have two friendly cats and a few constantly hungry and very curious hens running loose in the garden. Please note: the cats are both indoors and out so if you are allergic to cats I would not recommend staying with us.
There is no tv but in the cupboards upstairs there are lots of books, toys and games, for some old-fashioned fun!

Other things to note
Worth noting is that our house is very old! Upstairs has not been renovated since the seventies. We do a very thorough clean and tidy (hoover, mop, dusting and wiping) but it might appear unclean to some because of the worn wallpaper and old paint. Pets in the household!

I am an almost extinct species, an analog photographer. I do my best to carry on the dying knowledge by holding workshops and talks about historical photographic techniques. The rare moments I don’t do any photography you will find me in the garden, with my hens or in full swing restoring my barn and turning it into a gallery. I am never bored, swim in the sea all year around and think Hönö is the most beautiful place on earth to live, all seasons. I am lucky to have a husband who is an excellent chef who cooks for me everyday. He bakes bread as therapy and lucky for me he has a very stressful job, which means a lot of homemade bread!
