Paris, Île-de-France, France

You will live in the heart of Saint-Germain, the artistic, cultural, religious and intellectual very center in Paris. Just walking you will discover historical sites such as:

• the Saint-Germain-des-Prés Benedictine Abbey, founded by Clovis' son Childebert, which used to include a military prison which was attacked during the French revolution,
• Balzac's printing house, nestled amongst the neighbouring bookshops, publishing houses, and the literary salons of the intellectual elite of the twentieth century - Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir, Proust, etc.
• Delacroix's secret workshop and secret garden,
• École des Beaux-Arts (School of Fine Arts), whose students - still today - you see spread in the area with cardboard drawing, training in the Louvre, a few steps from your apartment by crossing the Pont des Arts, or down your windows sketching the Dome of Institute of France.

Mazarine street itself housed many characters who left their print in History of France: Molière created there the "Illustrious Theatre", one of Balzac's books describes rooms in this residence, and Manet and Champollion stayed there. You can also see much more ancient remnants, including towers and parts of the Philippe-Auguste's city wall, edificated in 1200, which included a fortress named… Louvre.

The 6th arrondissement ( = district) has always been the area for arts and culture in Paris. Its charm and elegance and the quality of life it provides attracted many artists and intellectuals, making it the location of French cultural vanguard. You will discover in your neighborhood over one hundred art galleries, and the most famous French publishing houses. Four brasseries, Lipp, Deux Magots, Café de Flore and Procope, award literary prizes.

Saint-Germain-des-Prés is the students' and artists' area where a passionate youth lives. Since the 50's, Juliette Greco and Miles Davis, Jazz, the wine cellars of Saint-Germain, Boris Vian and Man Ray, lively streets resound with this bountiful heritage which make the Parisian night vibrate. The density of trendy bars, wine bars and restaurants will immerse you into this extraordinary atmosphere.

Rive Gauche ( = the left bank) means the art of French living, regarding both style and pleasure. For shopping addicts: Hermes, Ralph Lauren, Sonia Rykiel, Christian Dior, Karl Lagerfeld, Bon Marché, Montblanc, Cartier, and many more in-style shops to discover. For gourmets: Ladurée Bonaparte, Maison du Chocolat, Pierre Hermé, Maison Mulot, Mariage Frères, Pâtisserie des Rêves, the Grande Epicerie du Bon Marché.

The number of restaurant nearby is such that you are sure to find what suits you, in terms of kind of food and budget: the most famous outstanding restaurants, including several world-class restaurants such as La Tour d'Argent or Guy Savoy, as well as typical Parisian bistrots and brasserie.
