This is a neat ,calm ,quiet location and the house is amazing ! The house was shipped from NZ in the early 2000`s along with two Kiwi carpenters . Being a registered `Nouka Minshuku` its all set up . We are on site or nearby if necessary .

The space

This Nouka Minushu(Japanese style rural Inn) registered home is down right cool . We are often on site or nearby if you require assistance Happy to talk long term rentals , just ask .Its a log house in Japan , this is seriously interesting and is in the middle of some great walking /hiking /kayaking /cycling and photograph taking areas . We can if required arrange evening meals , car hire and kayak hire . There is great local pond not far away as well as Ieyama Village which is fantastic. Take a look at some of the photos I have included of the area . We just love living here .

Guest access

There are plenty of temples/shrines to check out . Interesting restaurants and factory shops( as in over 100 years old miso and soya place) Green tea heaven around here , plantations everywhere. There is even a local full size SL (Steam Locomotive) that runs most days

Interaction with guests

we live nearby (sometimes on site) if there is any issues . We can certainly help if needed.

Other things to note

If you want to take it easy for a few days in the real Japanese country side then this is your place .

This is a stunning house and graham is a wonderful host. The house is situated high in the mountains and its very secluded (not even any Internet) which is great for nature lovers. The area is surrounded by the most beautiful nature walks and we enjoyed the trails to the temples. The house itself is huge and the bathrooms are big too. We liked using the indoor bbq pit. I suggest you take boardgames and books otherwise you might get a bit bored at night time with not much to do. Graham also picked us up from the train station and showed us around ieyama before we caught the train back to tokyo. Its a humble town that is full of little treasures. This place is great for families and nature lovers!

We enjoyed our stay in a unique location and house. Wish we could stay longer. A beautiful untouched hideaway in Japan.

Our host met us at the nearest station and escorted us to the cabin. It would have been quite difficult to find the cabin on our own otherwise. Our host even took us to the closest market so that we could save a trip back into town. Such great hospitality! The cabin location was dreamier and better than we could have imagined. Thank you so much!

We love this place. It is a perfect hide away experience. Graham and Chikae provides perfect GPS coordination for us to drive there, but we are just too clumsy to find the gate to go in. The log is located inside the woods and we found it like a fairy tale to get there. The log is amazing, we just cannot imagine how the trunks can be transported there through the way up the hill. Probably it is brought there by massive helicopter. Graham should tell me some day. The indoor environment is nice and clean. Towels and cookery stuff are all ready. It is perfect for good friends gathering and enjoy the country side. We are found massive amount of beautiful insects outdoor and a beautiful mountain view. A lot of stories to tell the youngsters through such a wonderful nature scene.

We stayed in the log house with friends and children of 4 and 5. Chikae received us at the meeting point and drove with us to the accommodation. The log house is in a remote area in the mountains. It is located in a very quiet neighborhood between green tea fields. This however also means that the nearest grocery store is 20 minutes away on a mountainous road and cell phone reception is very poor. The log house itself is well appointed with all amenities and plenty of space. Kitchen is fully equipped and clean and so are the bathrooms (2). This is a really nice place to stay if you are looking forward to getting away from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo and spend time in green mountains of Shizuoka.

I had a great stay here with my friend. The log cabin is set on top of a hill, surrounded by forest and feels completely private. There are some nice walking trails further up the hill near the temple where we saw a serow (from the goat-antelope family) and a colourful pheasant. Chikae met us at the local station and told us some of the area's attractions. She was kind enough to take us to the supermarket and wait while we shopped (we cooked our food on the inside charcoal grill in the log cabin's living room, which was a fun and easy way to make a great meal). Then we followed her on the road to the cabin which winds its way around a scenic but very narrow course up the hill. In the area we visited a 300-year old cherry tree in full blossom as well as the soy sauce/Miso factory, which was very small but the owners were happy to accommodate us for an impromptu tour (in Japanese). We saw the steam train, which looks interesting for those so inclined, and enjoyed driving around the local area. Without a car this trip would be next to impossible. The hosts provided us with information on car hire which was very helpful. All-in-all, this was a great place to stay for a relaxing getaway in a scenic and peaceful setting. Highly recommended for couples, families and larger groups.
