Northwood Lodge is in a semi rural location close to the sea. It's a stylish country home, ideal for a relaxing retreat from city life where guests will be treated to a comfy bed in a pretty room and enjoy a generous breakfast. In the red room I have a day bed pictured for which I charge £20 extra a night. I have two double bedrooms so if you'd like to book both please also go to Northwood 2.
A roomy Victorian Coach House with two double bedrooms, a luxurious bathroom to share with a big walk in shower and free standing iron slipper bath. The double rooms are spacious and overlook each of the gardens front and back. The front garden is planted with vegetables and fruit to be eaten in season.
Guests will have access to their own drawing room with large TV. Wifi is available and there is a radio in each room. I do Dinnermas, which is dinner and a movie in the coach house room with a 6'x8' drop down screen and surround sound. This costs £35 per head.
Interaction with guests
I will be around for guests to talk to and help them have the best stay possible.
Other things to note
Over Bank Holidays I only accept bookings for 2 or more nights. I have four polite cats but the house would not be ideal for allergy sufferers. I'm a good cook and happy to provide suppers or take away lunches with the appropriate notice and for extra charge.
Well behaved dogs are welcome but I have cats so they must be on the lead at all times. Children are welcome but I need to mention that this is not a particularly child friendly house in that I have a lot of antiques and precious things lying around and there are no child locks on the bathroom cabinet. There is no smoking in the house. I hope that people will come here for a relaxing time and not to party til dawn!
I am always pleased to meet new people and I make friends easily. I am an enthusiastic gardener and grow my own fruit and vegetables. I'm also very keen on food and cooking. I love trying new recipes and making up my own. I worked in the film business for 20 years and so I'm passionate about films and always relish talking to people about their favourites and things they've recently seen. Since I moved out of London I've joined a choir and we sing 5 times a year in Canterbury Cathedral, so far I've sung in Russian, German, Latin and English. I love it! I care deeply about my environment and did a year's worth of make over on my house, rebuilding, restoring, painting, and buying the most wonderful antiques to fill it. There are fabulous antique and brocante shops all within a reasonable drive of here and I'd be happy to point guests in the right direction. I used to travel for business a hell of a lot which was a fantastic way to see places like Istanbul, Sarajevo and Kigale in Rwanda. Also more usual spots like Cannes for the Film Festival and similarly Toronto, Venice, Rome and Berlin. Now, I'm a home body and like nothing better than being busy in my garden and watching a movie in the evening on my big screen projector. I have four cats that I love and a load of interesting, slightly eccentric friends that I have made since moving out of London. I'm very lucky.
