We loved meeting Lou and staying in his Apt. Exactly as described and a really lovely space to stay. We were travelling as five and everyone slept well and had enough room. We really enjoyed the vibe in the Neighbourhood and the local food was great. Subway close and Manhattan ju…

Very spacious! The kitchen had everything you would need. Each room has Netflix available and a fan. We had a lot of ups and downs with the weather so having a fan in the room was very helpful in the humid NY weather! Lou was extremely communicative whenever we had a question. Ve…

The photos of this place do not accurately represent the state of the place. Blinds were falling apart, ceiling fans were dangerously wobbly, and the place looks generally unfinished. Yes, the kitchen is nice, but everything else is bad when compared with the photos taken. Al…

Response from Lou:
I’m sorry that you had a problem with you’re stay Austin. The pictures are accurate. You did not communicate this with me. However, with a constant stream of incoming guests, it is very important that guests make the property owner aware of any issues, so that they can be rectified; otherwise, they can go unnoticed. As for safety, it’s a very diverse neighborhood, mostly residential and we do not discriminate against out neighbors. For the most part it’s usually pretty quiet. I’ve never had any guests complain about any problems or incidents. But no matter where you travel to, whether, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Europe or South America, you should always practice safe behavior: 1) Always stay aware of your surroundings. 2) Late nights travel in groups or with a friend if possible and walk down well lit streets. 3) keep money for a taxi if coming home really late. I’m New York (after 10p) the subways run slow about every 20-30 min and that is usually when they make repairs on the train tracks, so sometimes there will be detours or changes on some of the subway lines.

This is a fine home base if you want to see Brooklyn, warts and all. It's a 30-40 min Subway ride to Manhattan. If you need a basic place to sleep whilst exploring the NYC area this is a reasonable place. But it's not luxurious (though it does have a lot of TVs).

This is a nice, spacious 3-bedroom apartment in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of Brooklyn. We had a family holiday reunion there, with some family members coming in from other states and some being Brooklyn residents. Everyone had a good time. A table and chairs shown in …
