Our place is a unique architectural designed passive solar, straw bale home with recycled native wood and natural clay finish. Enjoy the warmth, peaceful feel and views of the beautiful Maraetotara valley.
The 30 sqm studio is located within the main house, has a separate entrance, private deck and parking with EV charger. Kitchen with toaster, microwave, fridge, induction cooktop and electric BBQ on deck. Continental breakfast pack for the first day is included.
The space
The studio has a lovely ensuite and private access from your own deck, so your space is private and secure.
Queen Size bed, Robes, hairdryer, hangers, heater, fan,
coffee table, Table & Chairs inside & outside,
Shower, toilet, toilet paper, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, & towels all supplied.
Tea, coffee & plunger coffee, milk, sugar, pepper, salt, olive oil. All kitchen basics, including pots, plates, mugs, wine glasses.
Free Wifi Available.
Surrounded by native bush with abundant birdsong and serene country views it is perfect for a relaxing getaway or a writer, artist retreat.
Craggy Range Restaurant is a 20min drive and the closest town Havelock North is 25min away.
There are a host of outdoor activities nearby including walking in native reserve Mohi bush and Te Mata Peak, visiting Maraetotara Falls (10 min drive), sightseeing along the coast, surfing at Waimarama or Ocean beach and riding on cycle trails. We’re happy to share our tips for enjoying this beautiful location.

Entry & Parking
Guests can access the property from the deck on the left by opening the left sliding glass door. There is a parking area close to the deck.
Spaces & Amenities
Entire space: Guests have full, private access to the entire studio, including the deck and the front lawn.
Shared areas: The driveway is shared with the main house, so please park close to the deck or EV charger.
The hot tub is located in beautiful private natural setting, down few stairs from the carpark.
You have access to the laundry area if required. Please just let us know if you need to use it.
Other things to note
Washer and dryer available at no extra charge.
EV charger available at no extra charge.
We have a gorgeous Miniature Schnauzer/ Fox terrier cross. He loves all our guests and our guests love him.
Because we are in a coastal/bush setting, you might hear native birdlife, farm animals nearby and encounter local insects in the area.

We are located in Mataetotara Valley Hawke's Bay, New Zealand.
We are on the sunny side of the valley overlooking the Ruahine mountain range, mount Kahuraniki, and Te Mata peak and Hawke’s bay to the North.
Our home is a 20-25 min drive from Craggy Range Winery and Terroir restaurant, Black Barn restaurant and shopping in Havelock North village. We are 10 min drive from Maraetotara falls, 15 min to Waimarama beach, 20 min to Ocean beach and 5 min to Mohi bush reserve. You are a short 10min walk from the Maraetotara Gorge bush reserve and the valley is great for road or mountain biking adventures.
