Located at the western edge of town the adobe house offers a quiet getaway as well as a true Marfa experience. The house is fully air conditioned and heated and has wifi.
There is one bedroom downstairs with a comfy queen sized bed, bathroom downstairs and one loft bedroom upstairs with a full sized bed and fun views. There are stairs going to the upstairs (see pics). Enjoy nice West Texas skies in a relaxed and peaceful, edge of town setting. (Marfa Tax # S44)
Private, comfortable and peaceful. Nice stargazing from the courtyard. On-site parking. Concrete floors and high ceilings, air conditioned, heated and has wifi.
This artful adobe house has a comfortable queen sized bed in the bedroom downstairs which sleeps 2 guests. There is a loft bedroom upstairs with a full sized bed with nice mountain views which sleeps 2 additional guests. House is best for up to 4 guests.
Some views of the Davis Mountains from the property and from upstairs.
Courtyard with distant mountain views and a soaking tub (this is a handmade cowboy tub, not a porcelain white shiny tub, a rustic outdoor tub.) and you may take chairs outside for seating.
Escape the event crowds & noise.
You’ll have the best of both Marfas: the town's events, restaurants, & music + the magic of the high desert. You’ll be able to escape and spend your evenings watching stars in the private courtyard, or soaking in its outdoor tub (with hot or cold water), a small "ofuro" style private tub, not a community hot tub. On cool early evenings, sit in the back yard and watch the sunset.
You will interact with me when booking the property - I'll be happy to answer any questions you might have in advance of your visit. At the property, you'll let yourself in, and will have phone numbers for the house manager who will be able to troubleshoot if you happen to need assistance during reasonable hours of your stay, not at 1:00 am. Please keep in mind, this is a website which offers people's homes for rent. This is not a hotel with 24hr concierge service.
A few minutes’ walk from the Cemetery Merced at the end of the street. That area is high on the western edge of town, a nice place to watch the sunset, with nice views of the ranch lands and plenty of distant mountains. The railroad runs though Marfa. You will see the train from the house back yard and from upstairs. Please read what every other homeowner in Marfa has written about the train. It is the reason there is a town in the middle of the desert, it is part of the town and you may/may not hear it during the night. Some people never know it's there. Others do and love it, a scant few others do and want to complain. If you are that person, don't rent my house.
The house is 3 minutes from The historic Paisano Hotel, Marfa Book Company and galleries in the center of downtown.
Inside you’ll find:
1 bedroom with queen bed (memory foam bed topper, choice of feather or fiber-filled pillows, clean selected linens—including flannel in the winter).
Upstairs cozy loft bedroom has a full sized bed with memory foam topper and sleeps two. There are steep stairs going to the upstairs. (See pics). If you are staying upstairs and have to use the bathroom all through the night, you will have to come down the stairs to do so. The bathroom is on the ground floor.
House is most comfortable with no more than 4 guests.
Outside you’ll find:
Private courtyard with outdoor soaking tub and comfy chairs.
Due to the city wide "burn ban" which is in effect, there are no outdoor fires allowed at this time.
About a week prior to your visit you will receive the basic house rules. Once you have read and agreed to the house rules, you will receive the four digit passcode for getting into the house. Check in is 4pm or after and there is no need to set up a specific time of your arrival. If you would like to see the basic house rules before your visit, please request. More than happy to send to you at any time.
Interaction with guests
I am almost always available via text message or phone call. The house manager is available also.
Other things to note
2-night standard minimum stay, 3-night minimum stay on holiday & event weekends. 7% Marfa City Hotel Tax is included in the nightly rental price. 6% State Hotel taxes are not included in the listed rental price but are listed on your final estimated total for you to see.
There is usually Big Bend coffee available in the freezer for your use.
If there are extra guests for the upstairs, take a look at the stair pics. If those extra guests have bad knees, have to use the restroom all through the night or even suffer from never-ending complaint syndrome, please do not plan on using the upstairs.
There is a county-wide burn ban in effect at this time. The high danger of brush fires unfortunately means there can be no fires in the outdoor fireplace until the ban is lifted. The county marshall is quick to issue fines for skirting this strict law.
If you are a chronic complainer, please do not rent my house. If you enjoy being alive and have a great outlook on your upcoming trip, this probably IS the house for you.
Please inquire about your travel dates before making a reservation request. I do not accept bookings from incomplete / unverified profiles.
NO SMOKING IN THE HOUSE OR ON THE PROPERTY
Fires in fireplace allowed only when the Burn Ban is NOT in effect.
Deposit required - if anything is lost/stolen/or broken the replacement cost will be deducted from the deposit.
The city of Marfa requires a 13% hotel tax which is included in the rental price.
This is a residential neighborhood. As with anywhere, please be respectful of the neighbors during your stay.
This house is not suitable for unmanaged or feral children who like to explore with their tiny hands.
Check-in time any time after 4pm. Check-out time is 12:00 noon.
