Interaction with guests
If I am home when you arrive or we meet in the hallway, I will be delighted to welcome you. Even if we don't see each other, I am available anytime via email or text to answer questions or address any issues that arise during your stay. The apartment is set up so that guests can easily come and go as you please.
Other things to note
The house is centrally heated, but there are supplemental heating and air conditioning units in the bedrooms that can be turned on and adjusted for comfort if needed. Several rooms also feature ceiling fans. The kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glasses, pots and pans, blender, hand mixer, utensils, napkins, and pantry staples. New York City water is safe to drink, and some say quite good. Bottled water is available within walking distance.
You may have read about New York's recent homesharing law that penalizes advertising apartments in large buildings (three or more units) and if the host is not present. This listing is legal under that law because it is in a two-family home and the host lives in the apartment upstairs.
I hope people treat my house with respect and care. I have a (friendly) cat who lives in a separate apartment upstairs and requests that you please leave your pet at home. I am OK with reasonable noise levels, laughter, screaming kids, and vacation excitement.
There is no smoking anywhere in the house. (If you smoke in the house, you will be asked to leave and your security deposit will be used to clean the apartment thoroughly.)
Recycling in New York City is mandatory (The city levies large fines for noncompliance!) , so there are separate bins in the kitchen for paper, plastic/metal and trash, and corresponding bins in front of the house.
Please do not flush anything except toilet paper down the toilet (no paper towels, baby wipes, feminine hygeine products, goldfish, etc.)
