Bright, spacious home in Olde Uptown neighborhood, w/ garage included, 1 mile to downtown restaurants/the capitol. Queen Tempurpedic bed + Queen Airbed available, shared bath, eat-in kitchen, 2 living rooms, porch deck, laundry, safe area, use of bikes, wi-fi/AC! Flexible hosts, coffee shop across street!
Your bedroom is upstairs, above the kitchen and rear facing so you don't get a lot of street noise. Bathroom is a shared Jack and Jill style bath (shared with me, your host, Katy) so please knock before entering and close the door behind you upon exiting. Oversized bedroom with tempurpedic memory foam mattress and enough floor space to inflate a queen double-height airbed to sleep 2 more people if needed (notify me if desired before your stay!). Room features designer carpet & ceiling fan, recessed lighting, two windows, power strip and basket of travel amenities. House is decorated with fun, playful artwork, comfortable furniture and plenty of amenities. Garage is easy to access and although it is small, it fits 1 car (up to large SUV size, oversized trucks won't fit) in the garage, plus one in the small drive way. New build home with great temperature control, hardwood floors, updated everything and friendly people! :)
Kitchen, laundry, downstairs reading/music lounge, upstairs tv/hangout area, and upstairs back porch are all common spaces. Make yourself at home and use whatever you'd like! You'll get a garage door opener to use during your stay as your house key, and we have a hide-a-key in case you get locked out. Two bikes are available in the garage for your use, too, plus camping chairs or other amenities if requested. Let us know if you want them and we'll make sure they're ready to go! Please send a message with your booking inquiry - I enjoy knowing whether you're traveling through, visiting the area, here for business, etc. We do our best to accommodate any check in/out time but help us out by communicating your needs with us asap since our work schedules can be sporadic and sometimes we need to prep the room for the next guest before we leave for the day. Our two personal bedrooms are private areas, please do not enter. Your room will have the door open and ready for you upstairs!
Other things to note
As noted above, we do have a new addition to the house - Diesel. He is a 7 year old lab mix rescue who has been with Sarah for 6 years and stays in Sarah's room when we are not there. He only lives downstairs and you may hear some barking when you first arrive until he figures out you are not there to rob the place. Please read our house rules regarding the dog prior to your stay in terms of keeping him from getting out. As mentioned, he barks occasionally (he thinks he's a fierce protector of our home but he's really a pussy cat). He is friendly with everyone but does take additional time to warm up to men before he will sit in your lap! We have allergy meds and earplugs on hand if anyone needs them, but so far it has not been an issue at all.
Our house is not baby proofed or stocked with toys for kiddos but we are kid friendly! We do allow some pets, but please message us beforehand for approval with breed and behavior details. Please no smoking indoors. No illegal drugs in the house either, please. Alcohol is fine. Guests are allowed to invite other friends over during their stay, but we prefer not to have a huge party at the house and guests of guests are expected to behave respectfully. Please keep somewhat quiet after 11pm on weekdays. Otherwise, feel free to come and go whenever. Please do not let the dog out of Sarah's bedroom, or enter the bedroom where the dog is if we are not home.
If possible, we enjoy meeting guests to say hi, but if Sarah or I are not available due to work or social commitments, read details from us in the booking info for how to get in the house on your own. Late evening arrivals or early afternoon are usually fine - but we need to know in advance if possible. I'm Katy and I live upstairs, Sarah is my downstairs housemate that you may encounter, and her sweet, playful, lab mix rescue dog named Diesel. Happy to give local food/drink/fun recommendations, so please ask! Since I do work a few different jobs, I am out and about quite a bit and unable to offer daily hotel-like housekeeping or predictable schedule of interaction. I'll stay out of your room during your visit, but if you want extra towels or need something cleaned, etc. just let one of us know. Feel free to hang out with me if I'm around, but don't feel obligated to. I enjoy hearing travel stories and getting to know my guests but it doesn't always work out time wise and sometimes you just need a place to crash and I totally get that. Morning departure time is preferred so we can turn the room around for the next guests but we can be flexible if we don't have another guest arriving the next day, just let us know what your plan is please. When you leave, just close the garage and slip the opener through the mail slot on the front door.
