Enjoy a restful getaway in our certified Wildlife Sanctuary. Relax in a lovely studio apartment with magnificent mountain views. Begin or end your day meandering on trails through our conservation fields and forest. Breathe deeply and refresh!

The space

The spacious apartment for two is situated above my art studio and accessed via indoor stairs to second floor. It is furnished with a queen-sized bed, seating & dining area with magnificent views of the mountains in Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland. The bathroom and galley kitchen are located on the first floor adjacent to my art studio.
My art studio is off-limits to guests other than as a pass-through to the galley kitchen and bathroom.

We provide fresh towels and linens, basic condiments and snacks. Let us know if you have any dietary restrictions. The galley kitchen, located on the first floor, is equipped with coffee & tea supplies; a small refrigerator and microwave. PLEASE NOTE: The galley kitchen is not for cooking and meal preparation as in a full kitchen. It is for heating simple food and drink items in the microwave. The bathroom has a shower.

Artists and writers may find it a perfect setting for inspiration and meditations on their creative projects.

Meads Run Farm is near the Potomac River in western Loudoun County, Virginia's wine and horse country, minutes from the C&O Canal bike and hike path (on which you can bicycle to Harpers Ferry, WV only 12 miles away). Bring your hiking shoes and backpack for a day hike on the Appalachian Trail, minutes from our home. Taste local wines at one or more area vineyards, enjoy antiques shops and finish the day at an award-winning restaurant. Country fairs, festivals, farm and arts tours are other key features of this area. The historic towns of Leesburg, VA and Frederick, MD are only 20 minutes away by car.

We both love the outdoors and look forward to sharing our enthusiasm and knowledge about the area, including our interest in local agriculture & John's organic vegetable garden; native plants, birds and other wildlife.

This was my second stay, and this one was just as amazing as the last. The views are spectacular from the studio apartment, it feels a bit like a treehouse, seeing the mountains in the distance and birds flying at window level. If you wake with the sun you can enjoy watching the sunrise from bed :) I came for a personal retreat to have quiet time, and ended up getting some work done too, because the place was so quiet and calm. The trail provided great walks, and the outdoor cat was the most friendly companion! Suzanne and John are exceptional hosts. I look forward to returning many more times!

This cozy retreat met our needs for the 1 night getaway we planned for our anniversary. We enjoyed the movie and book selection, and the secluded peacefulness.

Suzanne & John are low-maintenance hosts with a high degree of sensitivity towards their guests' needs! We stayed one night for convenient access to the local sights--indeed, this is the perfect spot for exploring the area around Lovettsville, VA and Point of Rocks, MD--yet were pleased to discover that their home is a destination unto its own. Make time for walks around their scenic property!

My boyfriend and I enjoyed every moment we spent here. Suzanne, her husband John, and daughter Kaila (who was visiting from college) were wonderful hosts. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. They were very responsive to messages and extremely accommodating when it came to helping us and answering questions. They took the time to get to know us on a personal level when we performed a few songs for them on their porch and they are SO much fun to hang out with! The property is beautiful--the nature trail, the house/studio itself, The horses/stables, etc. There is so much peace, serenity, and good energy at this place. It is exactly what we were looking for as a little get-away and it definitely brought us much closer in our relationship. We will DEFINITELY be back! We absolutely loved it. Highly recommended.

My husband and I have lived here since 1988 and feel fortunate to enjoy what we consider the best of many worlds--easy access to D.C., Baltimore and NYC while living in the country and awaking to the chorus of birds, horses grazing in the pasture, gorgeous mountain views all around and seasonal beauties of our conservation fields and forest. We have enjoyed sharing our home with friends over the years and realized that we would also enjoy opening our home to others wanting a refreshing getaway.
