About this listing

I bought and fixed up this home with my dad over the past several years. It's a 2BR/1BA home with a very open layout and lots of extra space. You'll have access to a green backyard, charcoal grill and fire pit. The house is filled with exposed brick and repurposed charm. It's a residential block, a 10-minute walk to public transit & Frankford Ave arts, food, and music! America's best sandwich and pizza can be found at Philly Style BagelsPizzeria Beddia. There is an Indego bike stop a block away.

The space

It's a big, comfy, fun space in the heart of Fishtown. You can walk to an assortment of cool local bars, yoga studios, restaurants, vintage shops and more. There are many cafes within blocks (Steep and Grind, La Colombe, Milk Crate, Front Street Cafe, ReAnimator, etc.) and lots of great thrift, vintage, repurposed shopping to do! Nearby Greensgrow hosts a lovely Saturday morning Farmers Market and the newest neighborhood edition, River Wards Produce, will leave you drooling over fresh, local organic produce (it's open 8 to 8 daily).

Wifi, laundry, backyard, full kitchen, nearby shops, restaurants, yoga studio and bars.

This is Philly's neighborhood that is most loved by the New York Times. It is in the heart of both emerging and classic music, art and culture for the city. Every time I go down the street there is a new restaurant to try. The neighborhood is full of late night happy hour specials (my favorites are Interstate Draft House and Kraftwerk), hot brunch spots (Johnny Brenda's, Root, Mulherin & Sons, Front Street Cafe and Girard on Girard), the Bottle Shop has great assortments of beer to go, some thrifting and interesting vintage shopping (Circle Thrift, Made and Maker, Vestige and Two Percent to Glory). There are also a few new shops in the neighborhood that sell pretty, good smelling things. My favorite is Vestige.

Guest access

You will have access to the entire house including a kitchen, backyard, laundry, etc.

Interaction with guests

I travel a lot for work. I live here when I'm not traveling. When we're around, it's myself and a little senior pup named Sir Elton John! He's great with people and particularly likes kids :) But if you have allergies this house may not be for you...

I stayed here with three friends, using both beds and the couch bed. Everyone was very comfortable and we loved the apartment and decor. Katey's place is very close to lots of great restaurants, coffee and nightlife and a short walk to the MFL train, while still being in a quiet, residential area. I would definitely stay here again!

Katey's place was perfect for a weekend trip to explore Fishtown! Her home is cozy, clean, and super comfortable. There are a bunch of cool shops and restaurants within walking distance (we loved jinxed and the record exchange!), and used Uber to take us to other sites around the city. Katey was a great host, we felt so at home here and I would definitely return!

Katey's house was great! Spacious and comfortable, with all of the amenities we needed for an enjoyable stay. Katey was a gracious and responsive host. We really liked checking out Fishtown as well. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

What a great stay! First off, Katey is an excellent host - she goes the extra mile to provide her guests with accommodations and recommendations. She knows all the good bites, shops, and landmarks to checkout in Fishtown and the rest of Philly. Second, the location of Katey's home is great. Fishtown is an up-an-coming neighborhood in Philly with good food, shops, and really cool bars. Her home is a 25 minute walk to the festival pier (where we saw Roots Picnic!), and a quick 10 minute walk to Frankford Ave, where you can stumble into awesome bites and shops. Her home is also a quick 5-10 minute car ride from the Liberty Bell and Philly's Magical Gardens. Third, Parking was easy - we were able to find parking pretty easily on the street of the location. Katey was really helpful with regard to parking, so definitely make sure to ask her (would share more parking info regarding street name but can't on airbnb). Fourth, her place is really nice, clean, and way more spacious than we anticipated. The interior design is fresh - a mix of modern design with reclaimed pieces and thought-provoking art. A lot of detail went into Katey's design. Our group of three definitely appreciated it, and also felt quite at home. There is a decent sized kitchen, a nice little backyard, and a very long living room on the first floor. The two bedrooms are on the second floor, along with another neat little living room area/office. Fifth, and maybe most importantly, you get to meet Sir Elton John, Katey's wonderfully chill/fabulous dog. Overall, our stay was great, and I highly recommend staying at Katey's place if you are visiting Philly.
