I am surprised and disappointed to hear of the negative experience of Tanuja and her spouse. It appears that my conversation which was intended to make them feel welcome, instead gave offense. I sincerely apologize for anything I said that offended them.
I have hosted guests from all over the world in the four years I have been an Airbnb host. My guests have come from all over Canada, America, South East Asia and Europe. I have never had a guest come away with such a negative impression nor have I before been described as a racist. In relating my holiday experience I was simply trying to connect with my guests by describing the wonderful experiences I had visiting India with my husband whose family immigrated from India and who still has cousins who live there.
I did not intend for my guests to feel I was pushing any service unrelated to the accommodation service which they had booked. When they indicated that they were considering moving to the Vancouver area I simply let them know I was a realtor and could provide information if they wanted it. Aside from a short (roughly 10 minutes) conversation about the general real estate market, the only additional thing I said was that if they wanted any further information they could text me. They did not and I did not raise the matter again.
I trust that this response, and the totality of the reviews of my four years of service as an Airbnb host convey the welcoming experience and quality of service that future guests can expect when staying with me.
Thank you for this opportunity to convey my thoughts on the review from Tanuja.
