Three minute walk to the ocean! Close to UCSC and Boardwalk.

The space

Come enjoy your vacation at this family friendly upscale home only a three minute walk from the ocean! We love our home and Santa Cruz and we can’t wait to share it with you.

We remodeled it with all wood floors, stone countertops, luxury master bathroom, gourmet kitchen, king sized bed, cathedral ceilings and many other wonderful details.

It is very clean — you are not going to find the owner’s stuff in every drawer here. Everything is pristine and waiting for you!

The lot is beautifully landscaped with lots of edible fruit so don’t be shy about picking a strawberry or a peach for your morning cereal!

The master bedroom has a walk in closet, its own spa-quality bathroom and a sliding glass door to the very private back yard. This is definitely a perfect spot for a lover’s retreat. The master bed is also at the far end of the house from the other two bedrooms so it feels like a private oasis.

The second bedroom has bunk beds and the third bedroom has a futon bed (full/queen size). There is ample space in the front room and other areas to put pads or inflatable beds so bring your whole family! If there is more than six of you I have a full size inflatable I will set up for you.

Toys! Toys! Toys!
Our place is very kid-friendly with a ton of toys and books for your enjoyment. You have never seen a bigger Thomas the train set! There is a lawn and balls to kick around. It also has a tall tea tree hedge and a closed front gate to keep everyone in and private (although we do not recommend leaving a dog because there is one area that a dog could get through.) Also, the house is set up so the toys and kid rooms are in the front of the house so the adults can enjoy the kitchen/living room/master bed-bath without the chaos.

We allow well behaved pets with an additional deposit. There are also lots of local pet boarding options including Bed and Biscuits /Groomingdales
(website hidden) if you don't think your dog would be a good fit for staying at our home!

We love arts and crafts. You will find several one-of-a-kind pieces in the home— mostly from local Santa Cruz artisans! Don’t feel shy about asking for information on where you can find something similar.

It’s a dream to live here, to listen to the waves crash and the seal lions bark in the night and wake up to the ocean breeze, we are thrilled to be able to share it with you!

The entire house and two private yards! Basically, you’ll have everything except the garage. Parking is on the street, but it is free. Everyone parks on the street on this block so your car won’t stick out.

Please email for availability before trying to book. We only rent it out when we are not home (you’ll be there!), but we will be available by telephone or email.

Location! Location! Location!
Welcome to the Westside neighborhood in Santa Cruz!
Access to every type of beach living activity, amenity, and the sea! It is entirely possibly to park your car and not move it for days. Take long walks on the beach, listen to the seals (you can hear them from the house!), build sand castles with the kids, cruise West Cliff drive on a comfy bike, Stand Up Paddle, Sea Kayak, take a jog down the coast or a romantic sunset sail on the Chardonnay II. Its an amazing slice of heaven.

The house is a 3 minute walk to the ocean. There is a secret cove beach right at the end of Fair Avenue that I’ll give you directions to when you get here.

There is also great tide pooling for the kids nearby and a dog friendly beach for Fido.

For surfers there are lots of options— You can walk to Mitchell’s cove (the closest break) but the famous Steamers lane and Cowells cove are only minutes away. Tell me what kind of wave you like and I’ll tell you where to go. For mountain bike riders you can bike from our house onto the main biking path that will lead you to all of the single track at Wilder Ranch and beyond. If you don’t have a bike they rent them right up the street at Another Bike Shop. They rent stand up paddle boards on the beach at Cowells. The last time I went I saw baby otters, dolphins, and a whale spout!

We are just down the hill from the University of California at Santa Cruz.

We are less than ten minutes from all of the excitement at the Boardwalk (we like to ride our bikes there— takes about 15-20 minutes- then we don’t have to pay for parking!)

We are less than ten minutes from down town, but, frankly, you’ll have everything you need right here.

If you walk from our house along West Cliff to the lighthouse you can watch the pro-surfers do their tricks at Steamers Lane. If you walk the other way on West Cliff you can visit the Monarch butterfly sanctuary at Natural Bridges State Park.

If you like tennis there are courts only a few blocks away at Derby Park where there is also a skate park for the bigger kids and climbing structure for the little kids. It’s also a fun place to fly kites.

We are only a couple blocks from the natural grocery store (New Leaf), Safeway, and the many restaurants/amenities on Mission St. Also walking/biking distance are several fun wine bars, a brewery, a delightful french cafe, and cute trendy shops.

We live on a happy block and it’s fairly common to see neighbors chatting and children playing in the street.

If you haven’t been to Santa Cruz, it’s time for a visit- between the beaches, surfing, mountain biking, hiking, good music, and wine tasting (80 wineries in the Santa Cruz Mountains), and more, it makes for a perfect get-away.

Walking, biking, driving are all very easy! Public transit - there is a bus that stops a block from the house on Delaware Avenue.

One week minimum stay for the Christmas holiday.

We have many art and craft pieces in the home and even a tiny bit of damage could completely blow your deposit (or worse) so please treat our things with care.

There is NO SMOKING inside the house.

We have beautiful wood floors so, like many places in Santa Cruz, we are a shoe-free household to minimize the sand on the floors. We also have a beautiful outdoor shower for rinsing the sand off of those toes!

The house is on a quiet street (very little traffic) and my neighbors are always home so please respect them and keep things quiet after 10PM. If my neighbors call me to complain about late night noise I will charge a $300.00 fee from the deposit. All of the windows have double pane glass and the house is completely insulated so soft music played on the stereo inside has never been an issue for us.

Checkout procedure:
Please strip all bedding sheets and towels and wash and dry them. Remove trash and recycling from inside the home and place it in the appropriate cart (Brown/Trash) (Blue/Recycling).

We had a wonderful vacation in Santa Cruz. Roxanne's home is everything she promised. It is clean, comfortable, and located near the beach and downtown. We traveled with grandchildren who were entertained with the toys and books. We highly recommend Roxanne who was helpful and accommodating to our needs.

We loved our stay at Roxanne's house and she was a lovely host. This home is bright, clean, and extremely comfortable. There was tons of space and toys for our little ones and a great open area for the whole family to gather. We would definitely stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay in this family home. The very bright and sunny kitchen/great room provided a great place for us to relax and enjoy the California sunshine, even with cool temperatures outside. The easy walk to West Cliff Drive is a huge bonus - and a great way to watch the midwinter sunset.

We had an awesome vacation at this home! The house is beautiful inside--so much natural light, high ceilings (part of the house), and neat & uncluttered. It was well stocked with all of our basic needs and we loved the open floor plan in the kitchen/dining/family room/loft area. The kids spent a ton of time up in the loft, playing with the train sets. The floor plan of the home lends for lots of together time, but there are other rooms to go to in the front part of the house where one can have some quiet time too. The house is a nice size (perfect for our family of 4)--not big, but definitely feels bigger than it is because of the high ceilings and openness. Roxanne left us a welcome gift basket full of local goodies, along with some brochures and magazines for the area attractions. She was extremely helpful on the phone and via email while we were in the vacation planning process, giving us ideas for what to do with our kids. And speaking of kids, this place is amazing for families with kids because it is well stocked with a variety of toys and books, so you really don't need to bring any of that! That was a huge bonus for us for sure! The location is great. We walked to West Cliff to watch the sunset and to a great little cove/tide pools. There is a playground within a short walk. We walked to a fantastic restaurant called Bantam and to New Leaf Market for our groceries. Slightly further is a Safeway, lots of restaurants, and pretty much anything you would need within a 5 minute drive. On bike (they have some that you can use!), you could pretty easily ride to the Boardwalk or the other way to Natural Bridges State Beach (it's not far at all.) At Natural Bridges, we went to the Visitor's Center and walked down to see the monarch butterflies--a must see if your timing is right. So amazing! It was perfect for us to have our own home, with a front and back yard, in a quiet residential area that is still walking distance to a lot of things, including the beach! I really recommend it!
