This is our third time staying here, so saying it exceeded our expectations was obviously only the first time, but it certainly did, and continues to delight. We like to watch the Great Lakes shipping - the freighters - go past, and they're right outside the window thrumming and gliding almost silently. The place is within walking distance of downtown Port Colborne (I even walked to the fabulous second-hand bookstore) and just round the corner is an awesome thrift store for anything you need and lots of things you don't! We had no problem with wifi, and there's plenty of privacy since there's no-one else living in the building and the apartment is upstairs. The kitchen includes a regular stove as well as a microwave and there are good industrial-strength laundry machines downstairs. If (like us) you want fresh and/or organic foods, there's a farmer's market within walking distance on Friday mornings, but if you check out on Saturday you're more likely to want to go to Sobey's or the Zehr's in Welland or the health stores in St Catherine's (there's one in Port Colborne too, the Healthy Cupboard). The Food Basics within walking distance doesn't have a whole lot of organics. You need to be able to cope with a flight of stairs, but apart from that it's super easy. There's parking, but remember to ask first and follow the instructions or the lady opposite will threaten you with towing. You can park right outside to unload. We really recommend this apartment.

The Pilot Lodging was an excellent home base for our weekend riding in the Dunnville Grand Tour. The two bedrooms plus laundry facilities were very welcome as was the kitchen to have a simple breakfast. The neighbourhood is busy during the day but quiets down in the evening so you can leave the windows open to sleep. Hopefully it will be available for next years ride.

Lovely hosts, very clean accommodation, I was very impressed at how much the kitchen cupboards and fridge were stocked! With 2 kids that was a real life saver. Ted was very responsive to messages and met us with the key promptly. I highly recommend.

Ted and Glenda's place is right on the canal and within easy walking distance to cute shops and tasty restaurants. You can't ask for anything more. Communication was easy and the apartment was as described.

This is a quaint spot right on the canal and an easy walk to everything in town. Ted is a prompt and clear communicator and the apartment looks the same as in the photos online. The water and juice left for guests is a nice touch and there's lot of information/pamphlets about places to see and eat that we're helpful. For those who enjoy watching television after a day of sightseeing, be aware of the teeny tiny TV set that's just too small to enjoy. The wifi is great though so we ended up using our laptop in bed to pass some time on a rainy evening.

For anyone reading the above review who doesn't understand what a "teeny tiny TV" is, apparently our 24 inch TV, exactly as shown in our photos online, is a "teeny tiny" one. We're curious what laptop would have a screen larger than that? And just so no one is misled on the self-catered aspect of our kitchen, it is stocked with tea (including decaf), coffee, milk, several breakfast cereals, bagels, cream cheese, butter, margarine, peanut butter, orange juice, spring water, salt, pepper, sugar, sweeteners and various condiments like relish, ketchup, etc.
