The place is incredible... a little hard to find since the directions from Waze are at some point not very accurate. Though once you find it you arrive in heaven! Clean, big, light and cozy... magical vibe and stunning view to the lake. You can make fire either inside or outside, swim in the Lake and prepare some tasty food. Perfect to scape from the noisy city :) just be careful with the scorpions, we found a couple of them in our stay which was scary af! Otherwise I recommend this place a 100%

The grounds and location are lovely, and the groundskeeper Manuel was terrific. He was helpful, friendly, and extremely attentive. Carolina was out of town during our stay, so we had no interaction with her, although she was very communicative by e-mail before our arrival. Our group included my teenage daughter and my 78-year old parents, and for us there were a few things that would have been helpful to know in advance. First, there is no hot water in the kitchen or any of the sinks. The showers do have small electric hot water heaters, so a warm shower is possible. Second, there are two full bathrooms in the house, but the extra 1/2 bath mentioned is not in the house but in a detached studio near the lake, which we did not have access to except for getting boats and paddles out. Third, the location is beautiful, but its remoteness makes travel to and from the lodge difficult. To access the commercial boats you have to go to Santiago. Otherwise to get to the other lakeside villages, you have to arrange for a (much pricier) private boat. Finally, for us, having a Spanish speaking person (my daughter) was essential. In short, Lake Atitlan is a wonderful place to visit and La K'zonA has much to recommend it, but it is probably best for groups who either don't mind paying more to travel around the area and/or taking a part of each day just to get around, or plan simply to stay at the Lodge for a retreat-type stay.

Super recomendadisimo.

About Carolina

I was born and raised in Guatemala city while spending as much time as we could in the lake house in Cerro de Oro, La K'zonA. I traveled to the US for college and then stayed there for over 20 years, studying, working, living. Life brought me to Indiana, New Mexico, Houston and for the last decade California, San Diego, LA, Big Sur.
I moved back to Guatemala 3 years ago with my partner and daughter. We are developing an eco-spiritual property in Santiago Atitlan as well as having renovated and manage La K'zonA.
