A place for the curious and the courteous: a simple, splendid private room in a magical location. Peruse my listing, read the reviews, and above all keep calm.

A friendly challenge to all: beat me in a game of chess and you may win a (sur)prize.

The space

welcome to our sunny house of simplicity. our lovely front garden is strategically isolated from the bustling street of dwight way thanks to the vine-entangled brown wooden fence. venture forth and you'll step onto our porch.

take off your shoes and enter through door A. climb up the stairs and you've arrived to our mid-room which boasts a handsome wooden table and a 23 year old green sofa. A few steps further and you can glimpse the first bathroom. right next to it is your new kingdom.

there are four bedrooms upstairs. you can think of the space beyond your room as a hostel. the kitchen is open for only those who maintain its cleanliness, lol so please just clean up after yourself. we have bikes, longboards and board games. wifi is great SOMETIMES SPOTTY. the doorknob to your room is a little wobbly. the house is cozy. street parking is available (you'll need day passes and I can give you one for free).

Location: 4 blocks to campus. 20 minute walk to Haas. 10 minute walk to the BART, 20 minute ride to San Francisco, Oakland. 45 minutes BART from SFO.

a friendly challenge to all: if you beat me in a game of chess, I may give you a (sur)prize at some point during your stay.

because some folks are... picky here is a list of forewarnings:

(ie why you would want to consider booking elsewhere)

1. you are aware its a COLLEGE STUDENT HOUSE- it is neither perfectly clean nor perfectly dirty, neither perfectly quiet nor perfectly loud. it's a happy medium.
2. you are aware its NOT a hotel, as in its pretty much a hostel.
3. you are curious and strong minded
4. you are aware the hot water may take some time to present itself
5. you are aware the wifi is sometimes spotty
6. you will likely meet 5+ other housemates during your stay.
7. you must clean up after yourself if you use the kitchen

and there you have it. if you don't like it, move on and have a good life. otherwise, whatever comes, welcome aboard and let's get you initiated.

PS long term stays welcome, just start the conversation.

Guest access

kitchen, bathrooms, living room, porch, garden, balcony.

Interaction with guests

I'll be around as much as you wish

Other things to note

you're welcome to use either of my bikes

The host (kush) was not available at the check in, and his friend who was supposed to play host had no idea I was coming in (even though I had informed earlier about the time). This place is located upstairs, and I had to scout around and do some digging to figure that out. I felt like I was forcing myself in to some stranger's home. It's fine if the host is out (and I've been in places like that(, but he needs to write a good instruction manual, and/or make sure that his replacement plays host and not the "I have no idea" person. The location is decent, and close to Berkeley (If your location is close to Stanley hall, you probably need to take lyft/uber as it's a 30 mins walk). The neighborhood is alright, a little loud on Sat nights but nothing to complain if you have ear plugs. The place was as described, although some things like the linen smelled old (I didn't tell this to the host, cus I didn't see the point). The wifi didn't work for me properly on the first day, and the host asked me to use a ethernet cable if I want (I didn't, and just went to sleep accepting my dire fate to live without internet). The wifi fixed itself on my 2nd day. Overall, what put me off worst was the host's way of handling (or not handing) the check in and any issues I faced. I guess I was expected to pay and come in, sleep and get out. I know it's a cheap listing and I wasn't expecting central SF or uptown NY, but still I was let down and couldn't wait to get out of the place.

It was a treasurable experience that I would never forget.Kush and other tenants were really warm-hearted and friendly. We communicated a lot and had a good time. Whenever I had a problem, everybody was willing to help me out, which made me feel like I was living with my college (URL HIDDEN) great! And it was very convenient to live in this location.4 blocks to campus, less than 10 minutes walk to downtown, easy access to various of restaurants, these factors all made my life enjoyable here.I would definately recommand this place if you are going to visit UC Berkeley and the bay area.

It's pretty much exactly what is described. Student housing 4 blocks from campus. It's not a hotel, and some people might get turned off by the cleanliness but it was absolutely perfect for me, and I truly enjoyed my stay. Kush and his friend Kwan ran everything very well. All in all, a great a good experience.
