'Mount Iron Cabin' is a newly crafted stand-alone chalet on the side of Mount Iron, Wānaka. Built to soak up the sun and capture the mountain vistas this bespoke private chalet will be your base for adventure and/or pure relaxation. Nestled in a Kanuka glade, enjoy stargazing from the outdoor double bath and continue the stargazing in your plush bed with skylight above. The space
This Cabin is warm and cosy with a sunny situation, heat pump, double glazed windows and maximum insulation. It sleeps two comfortably in a Sleepyhead Elegance Plush Queen bed. There is a full en-suite, modern furnishings, kitchenette with kettle, toaster, fridge, microwave and outdoor Weber BBQ. Enjoy panoramic views from your bed as the sun pours in, step onto the deck with your morning coffee and enjoy an al fresco breakfast, then in the evening lie back in the outdoor bath to watch the stars above.
Located on a quiet private road 5 minutes from central Wānaka this elevated chalet provides magnificent views and reconnects you with nature. Find refuge and be completely relaxed here, recharge ready for Wānaka’s adrenaline filled activities which are just minutes away. Walk out the door and it’s a mere 100m to the popular Mt Iron track, or bike down the hill and access one of the many interconnecting bike trails that Wānaka has to offer. Only 3 km from the Cabin and you can be on the shores of both Lake Wānaka and the Clutha River. You can immerse yourself in this beautiful arena that is Wānaka and Mount Aspiring National Park and then soak in a hot bath at the end of the day, stargaze and enjoy the privacy that Mount Iron Cabin has to offer.

Mount Iron Cabin is situated in a very private and safe neighbourhood.
Wanaka is famous for it's beautiful scenery and outdoor scene as well as the plethora of top rated cafes and restaurants that are within walking or biking distance of the Cabin. Enjoy a great coffee and food at one of the many cafés and restaurants in town, just 5 minutes away by car. Visit one of the many international award winning vineyards nearby or the local craft breweries. Head to the artisan market for more locally produced deliciousness.
Known as the Gateway to Mount Aspiring National Park, there is plenty on offer here. Whether you are an active traveller or not, the beauty will astound you.
Mt Iron itself is a roche moutonnee (glacier carved knoll) formed during the ice age and is a popular 6km loop walk accessed from the front door of the Cabin. From the summit you can enjoy 360 degree views of the Pisa Range, Upper Clutha Basin, Lake Wanaka and the Southern Alps.

Hi, I’m Megan. After more than a decade guiding on the West Coast of the South Island I now live in Wanaka with my partner Jon and our two children. We enjoy being in the outdoors and have visited many places overseas but our passion is for New Zealand. That is one of the main reasons we built Mount Iron Cabin, so others could also enjoy a little of this spectacular country where Wanaka is a highlight for us. Jon is a builder and craftsman who has dedicated a lot of time and aroha into making Mount Iron Cabin a beautiful space in which to relax and enjoy the warmth that only natural materials can give. It has been crafted by hand and utilises many recycled native timbers and natural organic products.
