Original, modern house hand crafted by Duet Design Studio in 2011 offers forest and mountain views from the large windows, decks, privacy, and great access to Shenandoah National Park, local vineyards (Grace Estates, Montfair, King Family, Stinson).

The space

Please note: our neighbors are putting in an apple orchard located on our shared private road. This is great long term but for the next few months distant truck noise will be audible when you are outside during working hours.

We (or other guests) are sometimes in Break Heart House - connected to the Studio by a deck. Many have had private stays in both places but just wanted to mention this. Check with us to see if we will be around!

The space is an efficient 16X16 foot cube with large porches, south facing windows and mountain views.

Located next to Break Heart House - available for rent with or without house.

Guest access

The residence is set in a serene forest ecosystem poised on the beautiful frontier between Virginia's Shenandoah mountains and Piedmont.

You have full access to a 3.5 acre wooded property and the private road connecting the house to the public road.

Other things to note

The house is located near several vineyards, the Shenandoah National Park and Sugar Hollow/Moorman's river recreation areas.

This is a rural location located on a private rustic road (read: potholes). We like to think of this road as a filter from today's fast pace life. The setting is serene, secluded and refreshing.

I highly recommend a stay here! The property is beautiful and isolated, but still nearby activities and downtown Crozet. The house was beautifully designed and super clean with beautiful views. They even brought us fresh banana bread and eggs. If you are looking for a rustic getaway in a clean, modern home, this is for you!

Mark's studio was perfect for our quiet weekend getaway. Everything was better than expected and the stay could not have been any more pleasant.

My boyfriend and I spent the weekend staying at Break Heart studio and loved our experience. Mark and his adorable children greeted us when we arrived and gave us a quick tour of the property. Mark offered local pumpkin banana bread, coffee for the house, eggs, and half & half which was great to have for the weekend. The studio is designed very thoughtfully to maximize space with the two of us never feeling crowded. Mark has the basics in the house including a wonderful drip coffee maker, double burner hot plate, microwave, dishes, mini fridge, towels, pillows, and linens. The studio is next to the main house and connected by a deck but it felt very private. Again, the design was well thought out. The deck on the main house is on the opposite side of the studio. We noticed the doors in the studio are very thick and noise did not seem to travel. The property is secluded and like described it does feel like you are going to be lost but follow his instructions and you will be fine! Mark was also informative on some local events that were occurring which we were very appreciative to have notice and he replied quickly to all messages. Crozet was a wonderful area for us to visit for a quick retreat and to explore it's beauty. The people we met were all very friendly and welcoming which we like to believe is the overall nature of most of these residents.

I stayed here with my boyfriend for 3 nights. We were able to cook a few meals and spend time together and apart comfortably in the small space. The attached house was rented by other people, but we didn't feel disrupted at all by them. Crozet is such a great small town. The house is a quick drive from a few vineyards, and a small downtown area with some great dining options. We also did an hour drive up to the Shenandoah Valley and went hiking. There is a ton to do if you stay here, but you don't feel pressured to be a busy body. This rental is a great option for a couple looking for a minimalist getaway. The design of the house makes use of all it's spaces, but somehow has a large bathroom, spacious living area, and a cozy"bedroom". If we ever head back up to Crozet, we'd absolutely rent this again. P.S. Wifi connection was a great!

A perfect little spot to relax and unwind, surrounded by nature. The studio was a comfortable size for two and we loved waking up to the natural light that shines through the large windows. Very cozy!
