Place is secluded, quiet and has a fully equipped kitchen, but it needs a little revamp.

Response from Traudi:
Your review surprised me. On arrival, you liked the chalet. It is a thatched chalet with ample space and furnished in African style. The bedroom too is larger than normal, about 3,5 x 5 m. There is a king size bed, consisting of two single beds, and in your case we made it up in white linen as two single beds. The beds are provided with electric blankets for extra warmth and comfort. I do not understand what is creepy about it - is it the thatch roof? As for the pool, you are from Johannesburg so you know we have water restrictions hence in winter we don't keep the pool totally full but leave a rim of about 20 cm. We do advertise that we are located within a country estate and in the dry winter months we experience dust and leaves falling off trees. I do apologize for any leaves that accumulated in the pool since the Friday morning when the gardener had cleaned it, until Sunday morning, when you checked out. Unfortunately, in winter we do not have a gardener on weekends. I didn't think that you intended to swim in the cold water. That brings me to the dust in the chalet. I checked it before your arrival. We service the chalets every day which includes making beds, cleaning bathroom, washing floors and dusting. We do know that there is a lot of dust in the dry winter months but when staff came to clean on Saturday morning you asked her not to come in. She then came on Sunday morning after you had checked out. She found all dishes and glasses dirty and this is the reason why there were ants. You had a barbecue on Saturday afternoon and left the dirty dishes in the chalet the whole night. Maybe you didn't even wash the dishes on Friday night - we will never know. A thatch roof always attracts more insects than a tiled roof. There might have been a few insects in the shower, although we had cleaned the tiles the day before your arrival. I apologize for the insects in the shower. You mention that both fridges weren't working. We exist for ten years and in all this time this has never happened before. I must, however, point out that there are two fridges for a reason. There is the under-counter fridge with the standard freezer compartment. It works perfectly but because the freezer compartment is so small we put a second tall fridge/freezer into the unit. The freezer part (2 drawers) works 100%, but the fridge part does not cool very well. As one guest once commented, it is not a problem as there is the under-counter fridge as well. He also said that he quite liked the fridge part not getting too cold, as he could put the butter in which would remain soft enough for spreading. Why, Lerato, did you not say anything to me? The main house is only 20 metres away from the chalet and I walked over to you twice a day to find out how you were. With regard to the size of the home, you enquired for six people and we booked the Loerie sleeping 4 and the adjacent Bee-Eater sleeping 2 people. We also have an 8 to 10-sleeper - Jacana - but you have not asked for it). On your arrival you were only 5 people and so you decided that all of you stay in the Loerie Chalet, where wemade up the sleeper couch for the 5th person. Thedining room table seats 6there was crockery and cutlery for 6 so there was no problem as far as this was concerned. Had you been 6 guests the sleeping arrangements in the Loerie plus Bee-Eater would have been ideal as it would have given you an additional bathroom. Traudi
