This hand sculpted dwelling combines the rustic feel of an indigenous hut with the luxury of an upscale B&B. Set at the edge of the grounds of our small but busy ecovillage, the view is pastoral and quiet, yet it's only minutes to the DFW metroplex.

This is for people who want a natural and simple experience. While there is plumbing, internet, and hot water in the main house, the cottage has no plumbing ,and its bathroom is a private outdoor decomposing toilet. There is electricity but no AC.

The space

Because we are a thriving ecovillage, we always have many very interesting people around! The cottage is very private, but there is a lot going on. We have gardens, and many projects. There are lots of animals, bugs and nature as well as fun and interesting activities.

Guest access

The cottage is beautiful and very private though it is simple. If one would like internet, hot water, or other amenities, we have a main house which has access available upon communication based on the circumstances.

We also grow and prepare beyond organic, world class cuisine. This is available to all guests for a reasonable donation. Food can be pre-ordered and customized or simply taken advantage upon if and when it's desirable and convenient.

Interaction with guests

We always have people here. We are a thriving community and are constantly gardening, building, cooking, and playing every day!

Other things to note

We have a locked gate to ensure safety and privacy for ourselves and our guests. Visitors are free to come and go as they please; we just need to lock and unlock the gate which will simply require a communication and a few minutes to attend.

See above for notes on food.

Our stay in the Cobb Cottage was a delightful and relaxing experience. We'll definitely be back. The cottage is as described and so peaceful. We were just looking for a crash pad, but were thrilled to discover a whole world of interest here - they offer a lot of educational opportunities and hand-made items - and the people who live and work here are sweet, welcoming, interesting and down to earth. Just a pleasure!

So nice to have you and your family here with us! Your children are very intelligent and responsible. So nice to see children of that age so mature. Hope to see you all again soon!

We visited the Garden of Eden on a road trip on our way back from Arizona. It was an adventurous stop for us, as we usually stay in a hotel on a road trip, but it was well worth it! The cob cottage was just as described -- the floor fan was really nice for some fresh air as it did get a bit stuffy in the July heat, as would be expected. The bed was comfortable, and the set up with the roll-out couch was perfect for the two of us and our two young kids. We loved the alkaline herb water that they brought us in a big glass jug upon arrival - very refreshing. In the morning, we really enjoyed visiting with Shelley and the others as we sat outside by the outdoor kitchen and ate a great breakfast - smoothies, eggs, bacon, and coffee. The community is an eclectic group of folks who we enjoyed getting to know a bit. We learned a lot from them in just observing their lives and visiting with them during our short visit. The "rocket stove" (also made of cob) that they cooked our breakfast on was awesome!

Hey! Was really nice meeting some folks who have some common background and history. Our life style is wonderful but very rare these days. So grateful you were pleased with the cobb cottage and the gardens. Also glad to be able to share some of our sustainable and delicious cuisine prepared in our outdoor kitchen! Food is without a doubt a highlight of our life! Wish you safe travels and a blessed life~*~

Staying at the Garden of Eden was definitely a unique experience. We enjoyed the garden and fresh air, the room was cozy, and the outhouse was just a few steps away from the room. The community members were friendly and we enjoyed a home cooked meal in the evening.

We enjoyed sharing our cob house, outdoor well shower, and fresh-picked-from-the-land dinner with Rachel and her family! While they were only here for a short stay after a long roadtrip, we are happy to provide a place for peaceful rest and a little taste of sustainable living for any length of stay!

I was greeted first on the phone and then in person in with kindness and flexibility. I was coming with an uncertainly because I wasn't sure my two teenage daughters would like it and the hosts were very understanding and willing to help! The pictures and descriptions of the building we were staying at were acurate. This isn't your average travel experience but that's exactly what I was looking for. If you're looking for something different, something more connected with Mother Nature. This is the spot for you.

The Garden of Eden is an Ecovillage just outside the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. This small community is home to about a dozen people aged 3 to 56 years, a few dozen chickens, a goat, a rabbit, two dogs, and sevral cats. It was founded by visionary author, speaker and consultant Quinn Eaker on the principles of Freedom, Responsibility and Sustainability.

Our daily life here is rich, vibrant, abundant, and inspired. Each person here has a unique personality and style of contribution to the flow of life, yet all wake when they want and help in the ways that are most meaningful, joyful, and important to them. We use very little water, power, and other resources. We salvage even more than we conserve, and put old things to new uses in creative ways.

Each day is a day of celebration of life, and each meal is too! Here we have great feasts just about every evening, and a pretty nice spread of a lunch buffet too. Breakfast is usually smoothies, or farm fresh eggs made to order. We drink activated structured water, full of delicious herbs and fruits to enhance absorption and nutrition.

We welcome you to join us in our custom Cob Cottage, built of this land with our own hands, and experience the magic of the Garden of Eden.
