Beautiful, comfortable, spacious. Open plan living area, modern kitchen, courtyard and sea-facing decks. Wave and whale watching heaven! Bordering Biosphere Reserve, on Whale Route, Natanya inspires with breathtaking sea and mountain views. Sleeps 10
Situated at the water's edge, on the rocks overlooking the sea, against the magnificent backdrop of the Fynbos-clad Kogelberg Mountains, it's easy to see why we named our beautiful holiday retreat Natanya - Hebrew for "God's Gift".
All rooms in the house have spectacular sea and/or mountain views - allowing for whale-watching at close quarters, not to mention the thrill of watching plumes of spray erupting before your eyes as thundering waves break on the rocks in front of the house when the seas are high.
Natanya's heart is undoubtedly its open plan lounge-dining-kitchen area, with seamless flow on the mountain side through double French doors out to the enclosed garden courtyard, with table and umbrella for sheltered al fresco dining, built-in barbecue and tinkling water feature. On the other side of the open plan space, concertina sliding glass doors open onto a generous sea-facing deck featuring a rustic 12-seater dining table for those lazy lunches which merge into sundowners which become star-spangled, balmy, candle-lit dinners...
Our modern, fully-equipped kitchen features a large central island with prep bowl, large gas hob and stove, an additional thermo-fan electric oven, microwave, kettle, toaster and large fridge-freezer. There is also a separate, spacious utility room adjoining the kitchen with double kitchen sink, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer.
The house also features a dedicated, comfortable TV room with mini library, extra-long built-in couch, wood-burning fireplace, satelite TV, plus DVD and CD player.
Natanya sleeps 10 people. Downstairs are 2 double bedrooms en-suite: the spacious sea-facing master bedroom, featuring a built-in king sized bed, private balcony, open-plan bathroom with jacuzzi bath, and shower (both with full sea views), and separate toilet. The mountain-facing bedroom offers a king sized bed (or two 3/4 beds) with spacious en-suite bathroom and private outdoor hot water shower. This room leads out through double French doors onto a private courtyard.
Upstairs is a third double bedroom with open plan bathroom en-suite (bath and shower), and separate toilet. Double French doors open onto a generous private deck with breathtaking mountain and sea views to either side. Two smaller bedrooms upstairs, each with two 3/4 beds, complete the sleeping quarters. A guest loo downstairs serves these two rooms.
A large, lawned garden overlooking the sea offers ample space for ball games; there is also a sandpit for little ones to enjoy. And, finally, direct access a short amble over the rocks directly from the house leads to "'the Gully'' - a deep tidal rock pool offering our guests the chance to cool off with an exhilarating swim!
Interaction with guests
Whenever possible (which is usually, but not always, the case, as your host lives an hour's drive away from Natanya), guests are welcomed upon arrival and given a brief tour of the house. Your host is also always available telephonicaly to field queries and/or offer recommendations.
Other things to note
Natanya is serviced by a cleaner twice a week.
Bath towels and 100% cotton bed linen, pillows and duvets (with extra blankets in case needed) are all provided.
The house is protected by a security alarm system with linked armed response.
There is ample parking on the premises.
Cell phone reception enables our guests to stay in touch.
As Betty's Bay borders the Kogelberg Biosphere Reserve, baboons (and other wild animals) are present in the area. "Baboon savvy" practices are explained to our guests upon arrival.
We would like our guests to respect and care for the house and its contents as if they were its owners, and to adhere to the House Rules as explained at check in.
No smoking inside the house.
Animals are not permitted.
These are a few of my favourite ''things'':
I love spending time with my husband and our three beautiful children;
I enjoy connecting with people and encouraging them to reach their potential;
Good food, wine and music make life so much sweeter;
Aventures make life interesting - especially when shared;
Sunshine, wilderness and sea;
Consideration and kindness;
The joy of dreams fulfilled;
The satisfaction of reading a great book;
My morning coffee...
