A beautifully presented 2 bedroom property on the edge of the Galloway Forest, a Dark Sky Park. This self-contained guest accomodation is an annex to our pretty stone cottage on the banks of the River Cree. Guests can enjoy a private entrance, 2 double bedrooms & their own private bathroom, living room, kitchen & garden, with uninterrupted views of the sunset. We are under 10 mins drive from Glen Trool, the 7 Stanes mountain bike trails, multiple wild swimming spots and renowned hiking routes.

The space
Our cottage is located on the edge of the Galloway Forest with its tranquil lochs, enchanting wildlife and legendary mountain biking trails. The property sits on the banks of the River Cree, perfect for picnics. There are multiple wild swimming spots in the local area. You could not ask for a quieter and more picturesque spot. We are surrounded by glorious views of the Galloway Hills and the big sky offers uninterupted sunsets (and sunrises for the early risers!) and wonderful stargazing. The area was designated a Dark Sky park in 2009 and affords visitors amazing night time views. We are located less than 10 mins drive from Glen Trool and the famous 7 Stanes moutain bike trails and 15 mins from the RSPB Wood of Cree nature reserve.

The property is a self-contained annex to our traditional stone cottage. All on one level (although there are 3 steps to access the front door), the property is bright and airy and was fully refurbished in 2020. In addition to 2 double bedrooms, guests also enjoy a private hallway, lounge, kitchen, bathroom and enclosed garden. There is plenty of on site parking and bike storage.

We have 10 acres of garden, meadow and riverbank for you to explore. We - myself, my partner Robb, our young daughter Elizabeth and 2 friendly dogs Lola and Max - live in the adjoining cottage. We are happy to share a coffee and tips or suggestions for exploring the area, or give you total privacy, it's up to you.

For the evenings the guest annex has a television, with Netflix and a DVD player plus a selection of board games. WiFi is available throughout the annex.

We welcome dogs, but we do have 2 of our own - so if your pooch is not great with others then please let us know in advance so we can keep ours out of the way.

We provide tea, coffee, hand sanitiser and cleaning products.

Amenities are available in nearby Barrhill (5 miles) where you will find a village shop, Bargrennan (5 miles) where you will find an excellent pub that serves food and Newton Stewart (13 miles) a substantial town where you will find shops, supermarkets and all major amenities.

**UPDATE: if you become unable to travel with less than 5 days notice owing to a change in Covid-19 restrictions in your area then we will be happy to rebook you for alternative dates of your choice (subject to availability) for no additional cost**

Guest access
Your accomodation is a self contained annex to our stone cottage. You will have your own front door, hallway, 2 double bedrooms, bathroom and living/kitchen room - with cooking facilities and washing machine. Our kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need to prepare and enjoy a meal and we provide tea, coffee, sugar, cleaning products and washing powder. There is a microwave, hob, toaster and kettle and a full range of pans, utensils, cutlery and crockery. Please note there is not an oven. Outside you will enjoy a private enclosed garden, with a lawn and patio seating area enjoying uninterrupted views of the fantastic sunsets. There is a clothes line and enough space for dogs to exercise. Outside the private guest garden you are also welcome to explore our 10 acres - there is a large meadow, gardens and the River Cree flows accross our land, offering a perfect picnic spot. There is also direct access to the forest and a Loch less than 30 mins walk away, plus many more within 10mins drive.

Other things to note
We are in a beautiful, isolated spot, however with that peacefulness comes poor mobile phone signal. We do have a strong WiFi connection that enables guests to watch Netflix, internet TV, make calls etc. The WiFi can go down from time to time, but its a rare occurrence.

Perfect, beautiful isolation. We are on the edge of the Galloway Forest, Britain's first Dark Sky Park. We have panoramic views of the Galloway Hills, the River Cree runs across our land and we are within minutes drive of the Forest Park's most stunning attractions.

Hi, I'm Emma. I live on the edge of the beautiful Galloway Forest with my partner Robb, our young daughter Elizabeth and our daft, friendly dogs Max and Lola. I'm originally from South London and Robb is from Dorset, so we've come a long way North, but we love this region with it's enormous forests, beautiful Lochs, rolling hills and big, big sky. We feel lucky to live here every day and are very excited about opening our home to visitors.
