The Happy Garden House was a great welcome to the start of our new life here in Borneo. We (Martini & AB & Dragon) arrived in Kota Kinabalu on 11 Sept and we were very thankful to have the house for a month of time while we explored the magic of Sabah. The house itself is situated at the end of the neighborhood dead-end road, so it's very very quiet, and inside, it feels like you're in a treehouse, up a few meters and surrounded by greens. The rooms are very true to the photography, and the two bigger bedrooms (of three bedrooms total) are blessed with much appreciated ceiling fans (the smaller bedroom has a nice floor fan), as well as generous ac when needed. The main room holds both the dinning table, and the living room set up, all on a polished wood floor, and the kitchen was just updated. The windows all around the house are charming, the old school iron framed glass that open out to catch the wind, and the bedrooms are super screened, both windows and entry doors, so you can keep them mozzy free. The bathroom is also updated, a glass shower stall, hot water if you need it, and large enough to be comfortable. Location wise, not in the city but just next to it (better, as in the city is a bit too much cement) with easy access to all parts of KK and beyond. Public transport, true to all of Sabah, is lacking, best to get a rental car, or become friends with a cabbie. Underneath the house, parking is easy and covered, and the lawn and grounds are full of greens. Neighbors are super nice, and the street itself is super quiet. And best of all, Jonathan, so so so nice - super appreciated after a long journey from California - who will check you in, and make sure you have what you need, including the much appreciated stock of drinking water and clean towels and sheets upon arrival. Overall, we're really happy we had the opportunity to stay at the Happy Garden House, as monthly accommodations are quite lacking in KK, and this renovated house with its gorgeous sunset view from the front door turned our first month in Borneo into an amazing stay. Many thanks to all of you guys for the house. Happy Travels! - Martini & AB & Dragon
