The space

A lovely bright double bedroom in an Edwardian family house. We are in a quiet residential road, centrally located, 5 minutes walk from the station and 10 minutes walk into the town centre.

Comfortable and spacious South-facing double bedroom with double bed, chest of drawers, bedside cabinet; overlooking the garden.

Shared family bathroom and large kitchen, where you can use all facilities. Two living rooms - one with TV and one without, but plenty of books. Wi fi throughout. Make yourself at home.

I'm an EFL teacher and so I am used to having foreign students in the house. I enjoy meeting guests, but quite happy to leave people to their own peace and quiet - whichever they prefer.

St Albans is a lovely market town with history dating from the Roman times. There is an impressive cathedral and interesting old buildings. The town has plenty of restaurants and pubs with live music, a great park and a market twice a week. Our neighbourhood is quiet and residential, but very close to all amenities.

20 minutes by train into London, St Pancras. You can park in the road with a parking permit, which I can give you.

The house is close to the station (5 minutes walk) and historic centre of St Albans (10-15 minutes walk), as well as easy walking distance to friendly local pubs, restaurants, cinema and nature reserve.

I had a fantastic 3 days at Sandra's. The house was warm, close to the railway station, with a great riverside walk to the Abbey, and the best pub in England. Sandra was the perfect host, and really made me feel welcome in her home. She was relaxed, generous with her time and we had some great conversations. I'd love to stay again.

Sandra and her son Murray made us very welcome and we're very helpful. Sandra's home is very cosy and has lovely little garden and is in a very quiet part of st.albans. Easy walk to town, nearest pub only 10 mins walk. We had everything we needed for breakfast and our room was very comfy. A great place to stay in st.albans.

Fantastic stay in Sandra's lovely home. Perfect for a few nights for work or visiting St Albans. Easy walk to the train station in less than 10 mins. Very comfortable room, good wifi and access to common areas in the house. Two friendly cats, happy to be fussed but equally stay out of your way. Sandra very kindly put breakfast out each morning, which was great before heading off to work. Will definitely back again!

Sandra is a very welcoming and hospitable hostess and her house is well located for walking to all the sights in St. Albans. The bed was comfortable and although the bathroom was not en-suite, it was right next door and there was plenty of hot water.

Sandra was a wonderful host, attentive and helpful whilst allowing us our own space. Santa's place is in a great location for accessing St.Albans and we will definitely return.

I'm an EFL teacher for international students and teach mostly at the university near here. I have three grown up children who come and go, one of whom is back out living in Cambodia. Like everyone, I love travelling - especially in Asia, though Iceland was wonderful and I recently got back from visiting family in Italy (which is why l am learning Italian!) I like cinema, theatre and music. We have a great independent cinema just round the corner. Was at Latitude in the summer, but we have great local pubs for music in St Albans too. I've had some lovely guests to stay from all around the world and look forward to welcoming more in the future.
