Great check-in experience

Recent guests loved the smooth start to this stay.
We are only 75mins drive north of Auckland, 10 mins off the number one highway.
The cottage is built from beautiful untreated hardwoods set in a tranquil
private spot, nestled on the edge of a regenerating native forest.
The cottage is only a 2min walk down to the beautiful Kaipara Harbour.
Our place is part of a 25 year old 300 acre organic permaculture farm, which we were instrumental in setting up as a working farm and village style subdivision.

The space
We live on a large peninsular with water on three sides, there are amazing walks all around us, 1,000 year old trees and a 500 year old remnant of a Maori village. The cottage is down a 4km very good gravel driveway. Its very peaceful here, the driveway is a lovely walk or bike ride giving you many glimpses of the harbour.
The cottage has a fully equipped kitchen, a large en-suite which includes shower, basin and toilet, a wood burner and electric heater, small private back deck area and front courtyard with table and chairs and outdoor fire. It has a very comfortable queen sized bed and very comfortable single sofa bed.
We have high speed wifi 43mbps.
There is a large parking area right next to the cottage.

We have a large natural bio- swimming pool, beautiful clean living water, no chemicals. You are welcome to swim in it any time. The pool is in front of our house not directly next to cottage.
We have an electric bike you are welcome to use.
Im a musician ( play the clawhammer banjo ) so if you're got an instrument bring it along.
We live next door to the cottage in a 20 year old straw-bale/earth house with earth/grass roof, which we built ourselves. You are welcome to come in and check it out. We are surrounded by productive vege gardens and fruit trees.
Its only 20 min drive from the cottage to the beautiful beaches
of Mangawhai and very good food and craft Saturday markets.
If you need to do any laundry it is in our house, it has its own access from out side.

If you think you might want bodywork to further your relaxation or to treat discomforts during your stay then we warmly suggest contacting our neighbour Michèle, trained and skilled shiatsu/remedial massage therapist. For more information about the modalities Michèle offers, please goggle “move into wholeness, Kaiwaka “ and book through her website. Michele has requested that you book your appointment minimum 48 hours in advance

Guest access
Cottage is to the right of the main house, once you get down to end of drive way. When you arrive cottage will be unlocked and key on kitchen bench.

Other things to note
We are on rainwater tanks so in summer ( October onwards ) there are water restrictions.
Please use half flush on toilet, have quick showers and don’t leave taps running.
We would appreciate if you can conserve water.
Thanks

My work: designer
Lives in Kaiwaka, New Zealand
We are from New Zealand. I am a Landscape architect / permaculture designer and my wife is a clown doctor and performer. I love music and sustainable ecological issues in all areas. Jude is passionate about social theatre. We produce all our own food, vegetables, fruit, meat, eggs and milk on the small farm we live on. We built a strawbale home with grass roofing and a biological natural swimming pool over 20 years ago. We have two grown up children Oscar and Poppy. Oscar is studying to be a councillor and Poppy works in the music industry as a producer and manager. They come home quite a bit!
