Our house, built in 1873, is in a spectacular position in North Oxford, just 10 minutes walk from the town centre. 3 separate bedrooms and shared boutique bathroom on a private floor. Sleeps up to six adults, ideal for families or small groups.

The space

On the second floor of this detached Victorian house, you will have private use of up to three high ceiling, gabled bedrooms and the bathroom shared between these three bedrooms. The large front bedroom overlooks Banbury Road and has a double bed, with a basin, TV, desk, hanging space and chests of drawers. The back twin bedded bedroom overlooks the garden and has chests of drawers, small desk, hanging space. The third bedroom has a single bed with a 3 foot wide truckle bed underneath to make up a further single or double bed in this room. All rooms are accessed from a beautiful light second floor landing. The bathroom has been completely modernised in Victorian style with rolled top bath, overhead shower and underfloor heating and beautiful black and white chequer tiles. Home made cakes with tea of many varieties, fresh coffee and fresh milk are all made available in the room.

Guest access

The front reception room with smart TV and piano is available for guests' use. Free wi-fi is provided throughout.

My husband and I live at the house and will be staying there when you visit. My husband is a University Professor. I will be there to welcome you, to provide breakfast, to answer any questions you may have and to help you feel at home in Oxford.

Miriam's house is delightful. She has impeccable, wonderful taste. The house is alive with family history and artifacts from travels. She is enormously generous with a delicious breakfast, as well as with little touches in the room - morsels left on a welcome tray. The location is brilliant - all in walking distance from the city centre. She is also generous with her time and her suggestions. One of the nicest stays I've ever had.

Our family stayed with Miriam and Tim for 3 days. The location is fantastic - only a 20 minute walk or £5 cab fare into the centre of town (buses also leave directly opposite the house). Miriam and Tim were both wonderful hosts going out of there way to help us, with Tim even offering to drive us to our black tie dinner on Saturday evening. Breakfast was plentiful and a nice addition. We would have no hesitation staying here again or in recommending the private loft for other families. The only point to note is that the loft is up a few flights of stairs so may not be suitable for those with mobility challenges.

My husband and 2 daughters (in their 20s) had the top floor of the house. It was very homely but with hotel standards - beds were comfortable, plenty of tea and coffee in the room and delicious cakes. There was lots of hot water and towels. Miriam ably catered for 2 vegans with fab breakfasts (non-vegan breakfasts great too). The house is well located and safe parking available by the house avoids the infamous Oxford traffic wardens! Miriam and her husband were friendly, hospitable and very helpful. Thoroughly recommend.
