This is a great location. The host, Catherine, is superb in her communications. She provided great suggestions for the area as far as eating options. Unfortunately, accommodations were just ok for the price paid. The bed is new but we still had that roll to the center issue. The bathroom was kind of dirty in the tub. The towels were air-dried-so not very fluffy. The coffee offered was stale unfortunately. And, just as other reviews noted, there are six flights of stairs. All in all, it is about whether you want the Paris apartment experience or if you just want to stay in a hotel. If you decide on this place you can be sure that you will have a lovely host and a great location.

Response from Catherine:
Thank you for your feedback. Allow me to clarify: Do not confuse floor and bearing. The bearings are half-stages. The apartment is therefore on the fourth floor. The bed is memory-shaped, bought a few months ago, and has no middle bar. Two packets of coffees were stored behind the coffeepot. The bathtub is old and the enamel cracked in places, these are not stains.

Catherine has created the perfect bohemian retreat, full of character, in an incredible location. She was a lovely host - accommodating with check in and very generous with her flat and all it contained.

The house of Catherine is unique. You won't find it anywhere else in Paris, I'll bet on that. It's like a museum, constructed by one person who has learned how to live, read, write, and in the most authentic way. If you wish to be inspired, this is the place. If you don't mind 80 steps up, that is. For us no problem, for the elderly, maybe. Also, if you are quite tall, like we both are, the apartment might be experienced a bit narrow. You have to bend over a little in the door posts. Same goes for the bed. It's quite small. At least, we found it was the case with us. Catherine supplied us straight with an air bed that I could use. My boyfriend (2 meters tall) slept perfectly and diagonally in the very comfortable bed after that, and me near the window in the living room. Regular bohémiens, like Catherine herself. Everything in this apartment reflects art and literature. You will find that her bookcase contains all world literature, and to my own delight the female writers are much represented.

We loved our 5-night stay here. Catherine's apartment is unique, authentic, and eclectic. It's not just "a writer's flat". She's the writer, and her books were on the table to thumb through. Kitchen: it has all the devices you would need, but it is small. We didn't use it, and didn't need to. Great food was all around us. Bathroom: seated showers were fun and different. The clothes washer is in here. We were happy to use it so that we could pack light. Our clothes air dried fine overnight on the rack. Living room: we didn't use it except to store our belongings and use the drying rack. We were always out and about in Paris. Bedroom: comfortable bed and a window that you can either leave open, or black-out. Other: four stories is only hard the first time when you have your suitcase :) Great WIFI. Catherine was always available and responsive. She even bought a second fan for us when we were concerned it would be very hot at night in July. We didn't end up using it. The nights were surprisingly chilly enough.

Catherine was an excellent host! She went out of her way to meet us upon arrival and to make sure we felt welcome and comfortable. Her personality shone right through to the amazing eclectic decor that drew us to this place. So glad we found it. All of Paris major attractions were within walking distance and the area has lots of wonderful places to eat Catherine made sure we knew where to go and which to avoid -so helpful!! We also slept very well as the bed was so comfortable.

Catherine's flat is a real gem. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect location or host. Catherine made traveling to Paris - a city we had never been to before - quite easy and stress free. She wrote back almost immediately every time I had a question and she she provided many helpful suggestions as to where to go for food/groceries/etc. What truly won my heart though were the decorations - the interior is just as charming as the photos make it appear, if not more so.

My wife and I stayed in Catherine's lovely apartment for three nights. It is a wonderful space and is super close to the metro and major attractions. Catherine was a gracious host! She lend us her laptop during our stay and also let us leave our luggage after we checked out so we can tour the Louvre comfortably. Thank you Catherine!
