Comfort Style and Location. Dozens of 5 star reviews on competing website. Newly gut renovated kitchen and bathroom.

The space

Comfortable and chic, in the heart of Park Slope. Open plan living-dining kitchen w wooden round table and cook's stove. Flat screen tv, leather sofa. swanky and comfy Queen-sized Ralph Lauren bed. Small room with twin bed. Look out on well-tended south facing garden.

I've been hosting on another site for several years...dozens of glowing reviews.

Park Slope is the real thing, a vibrant urban culture with a sense of adventure and a hint of the bohemian.

The F and G train to Manhattan and Williamsburg are two short blocks away. The R train is a ten minute walk. Walk to Prospect Park

There is no TV

Guest access

This is your private apartment not shared with anyone. Private entrance and you can have exclusive use of washer and dryer one flight down. Note there is no garden access.

Interaction with guests

I usually greet guests and orient them to the apartment and neighborhood. I own the building and have lived in the apartment. I am available by text 24/7

Other things to note

New grandparents are my specialty. Many are frequent return guests. Methodist Hospital is half a block away. Positioned between three shopping streets, 7th Ave, 5th Ave and 9th Street. Stylish yet funky neighborhood famous for residents who are annoyingly sure they wouldn't want to live anywhere else.

A darker apartment than expected, but when you're out and about all the time, it doesn't really matter when it's just a few days. The apartment was well stocked with everything anyone could need, except for scissors! Surprised that the garden couldn't be used as it would be nice for visitors to be able to sit outside as it's so dark inside. Fantastic bathroom and shower and super clean kitchen. A little noisy with the tenants above, but generally a quiet street. The location is the winner here due to the close local amenities and restaurants, not to mention the F and G line trains, which we used daily to get in to Manhattan - a good hour to get to Times Square and the more touristy spots, but that wasn't too much of an issue (unless you got lost!). It's just a shame we weren't staying long enough to get to more local restaurants. Barbara was a good host, always responding to my messages shortly after sending and was able to offer us a late check out as our flight wasn't until the evening. Overall, we had a great trip and enjoyed our stay.

Response from Barbara:
Thanks for your helpful comments and I am pleased that you enjoyed your stay. The photograph of the garden on the site is labelled "view from the kitchen." I will add a note to emphasize it is not accessible so that future guests are not disappointed as you were. I will see that the kitchen is stocked with scissors.

Unfortunately, we were not told that the people upstairs from our apartment were moving out, so it was not a restful experience. We were asked to make the apt. available so the cleaning person could get supplies from a closet in the apt and our hostess accessed the apt. (with our permission) to measure some furniture. It was a bit odd. Otherwise the apt was clean and in a great location.

Response from Barbara:
Owing to very unusual circumstances beyond my control (that involved a dispute with an insurance company I was not aware of) the tenant upstairs gave me less than two weeks notice about moving out. As a result I was not able to give my airbnb guests a heads up. I am deeply sorry that this caused several issues for my guests, noise overhead and two requests for access to the apartment during their absence. It is highly unlikely this will ever occur again.

Barbara's place was gorgeously appointed- the kitchen was wonderful, the bathroom top notch, and the bed incredibly comfortable. Communication with her was flawless, and she even sent me a set of keys in the mail to make check-in more convenient for me. Her neighborhood is the best of Brooklyn- charming, cute shops, good restaurants. If anything at all about my stay was less than perfect, it was that the insulation in the floorboards wasn't particularly good, and I was woken up rather early on a few occasions by the pitter patter of upstairs neighbor feet. I was using a white noise machine, but earplugs may have been more helpful. If you're a light sleeper, this may not be the best choice for you.

This was our 4th visit - need I say more? This garden level apartment is spacious, comfortable and clean. In a great neighborhood and close to subway lines, restaurants and shopping. Barbara is very responsive to any issues. The wifi wasn't working and Barbara had it fixed in no time! Can't wait 'til our next visit!
