The Serene Bedroom is perfect for couples, or a single person. It's a very quiet room, with a lot of sunlight, that comes from 3 big windows. With the blind closed you can relax in complete darkness,
making it very comfortable at any time...
It's a very good room.

The space

Every visitor is treated by me the same way that would like to be treated as guest.
I want all my guests to feel at home, away from their home.

SERENE BEDROOM
Private, very sunny, clean, located next to the living room and very spacious. It has 3 large windows and it gets lots of sun in the afternoon. This room gets dark when the blinds are down (2 layers in each window), so you can sleep like an angel. In this room there is a “full size" bed. There is a flat screen TV. Good heating system in the winter and in the (email hidden), but once you open the windows it gets lots of fresh air. Free Wi-Fi, fresh linens and towels provided.

APARTMENT
The apartment is on the second floor without an elevator in the building (16 steps up to the second floor). There are only two apartments in the building. This is a very large 3 bedrooms apartment (for NY standards) with great sunlight and hardwood floors in the bedrooms and living room. In the hallway, kitchen and bathroom has white ceramic tiles. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking and you are welcome to use it. There is a smaller fridge in the kitchen for the guest(s). The living room and the Serene Bedroom are located by the entrance of the apartment. Kitchen, bathroom and the Peaceful Bedroom are located in the middle of the apartment. The third bedroom, which we call Zen (but never available), is located on the end of the hallway. We have an iron and an ironing board, several hair dryers, there are Q-tips, cotton balls, toothpaste, shower gels and shampoos/conditioner available for use, which will make your life easier if your trip is brief.
In case you cannot use your international cell phone here, you can use the home phone to make local calls or calls within the US; the phone is located in the living room. If you need to make long distance calls you will need a phone calling card that you can buy at any Deli store.

LOCATION
In the heart of Bay Ridge - Brooklyn, very safe family oriented area surrounded by parks. It is perfectly located to everything: restaurants, diners, liquor stores, drugstores, banks, supermarkets (Key Food & C Town), laundromats, walking distance to shopping stores (email hidden) (Century 21, Gap, TJ Max, Modell’s sporting goods, etc.) coffee shops and cinema.
The apartment is located two small blocks from the subway (R train - Bay Ridge station), one station away you caught the express train N and it takes only 35-40 minutes to midtown Manhattan (Times Sq.), 20-25 min to Chinatown, Soho, and the Village. On the N train you can be in the Atlantic Ave station (where the new Barclays Center is located) in 10 minutes and over there you will find several train lines to transfer to. Please be aware these timings are possible during the day, non-rush hours or late at night (after 1AM), the subway/bus system operates 24/7.
If you need to take a taxi back home, it is about:
- $25 from LES (plus tip, usually we give 15%)
- $35 from Times Sq. (plus tip)
- $40 from upper east/west side (plus tip)
We are located very close to JFK, Newark, and LaGuardia airports (20-25 min car ride, around $35-40 from JFK & LG, from Newark airport, you will be charged extra for the tolls & the taxi is $60).

DETAILS
All renters are required to put down a security deposit, $150 and you do it through the airbnb site. There is also a cleaning fee $20 per week/per person ($10 per person if you stay only two days), this will be paid to me in cash upon arrival (I would do it thru airbnb, but they take a percentage out of it and I don't want to add that on, making it more expensive for you). If you stay for than 8 days, I will change your sheets and towels for clean ones and your bedroom will be vacuumed and cleaned weekly.
You'll be sharing the apartment with a mature and considerate female roommate ( and two friendly kitties that you rarely see, and one small friendly dog...therefore you must like pets and you are not allergic to them), they sleep with us and you can keep your bedroom door closed if you don’t want the pets to visit you. We are smokers, therefore you can smoke too. If you don't smoke, it will not bother you, because the windows are always opened/ashtrays are always empty/home is always clean and if you keep your bedroom door closed you will not smell it because we are located in different parts in the apartment (we had several non-smoker guests and our smoking was never an issue for them).. Plus we will not smoke in front of you if it bothers you. This apartment is big and each room is located in separated areas of it. I work Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm. This is a LGBT friendly household. I'm Brazilian but I have been living in NYC for more than 20 years, I speak fluently English, Portuguese, Japanese and Spanish (I understand Italian as well). I have a great knowledge of the city and if you are a foreign I will help you to go wherever you want to. A clean home is very important to me, and due to the presence of the pets, I make sure I keep our home very neat.

If you have a small & friendly, trained dog or cat that you would like to bring with you we are open for the possibility (pets are vaccinated and spayed/neutered). There is no charge for your pet.

NEIGHBORHOOD
BAY RIDGE RANKS AMONG THE TOP 10 SAFEST FOR THE ENTIRE CITY AND IS AMONG THE SAFEST NEIGHBORHOODS IN BROOKLYN. Bay Ridge has earned its reputation as a place where New Yorkers can enjoy the fruits of their labors. The neighborhood came in No. 7 in per capita crimes on DNA info site ranking of 69 neighborhoods.
Bay Ridge has many international restaurants and bars, especially along 3rd and 5th Avenue, its main commercial strips. Many refer to the community as "Brooklyn's Gold Coast." A popular neighborhood attraction is the 69th Street Pier, at Bay Ridge Ave (aka 69th Street) and Shore Road. This popular pier is a favorite to the local fishermen who fish there daily. Very close to the pier is Owl's Head Park. This park is a 27-acre walking park that has a state of the art skate park, children's playground and basketball courts. Most of all, you can have the best view of the Verrazano Bridge. Did you know the 1977 movie Saturday Night Fever was set in Bay Ridge? In the summer you can go to Coney Island a 30 min train ride and enjoy the beach, the oldest amusement park in the country and the NY Aquarium. On a 20 min train ride you can go visit the Brooklyn Botanical Garden, or Prospect Park, or the Brooklyn Museum, all located next to each other.
Love to play golf?...just few blocks away from the apt, the Dyker Beach Golf Course is a beautiful 18-hole championship course located in the heart of Brooklyn, below the shadows of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge. Dyker Beach Golf Course is convenient to get to, located close to both the Belt Parkway and the BQE. If you are using public transportation they are just 4 blocks from the R Train Station and across the street from a Manhattan express bus stop, from the apt a car service (taxi) will cost you only $7.00.

Please note: Returning guest(s) will receive 10% of discount on the future bookings.

Luckily, it doesn't take that much work to fall into "good houseguest" category: you don't need to clean the entire house before leaving, or feel like you're walking on eggshells. You simply need to show a bit of consideration and gratitude for your host.

Tell me what time you'll be arriving, when you're leaving, and what plans (if any) you might have. This lets plan our own schedules accordingly to receive you. If you’re running late make sure to call ahead and update us on when you’ll be arriving. Please inform me if you are not coming back to the apartment so i don’t worry that something bad happened to you.

A note of advice; please inform me if you have any special medical condition that we should be aware and who we should contact in case of an emergency. If you are a foreign, keep my name and phone numbers available in you wallet.

Please pick up after yourself, hang up your towels in your room, make your bed, wash your own dishes and don't leave your stuff lying around in common areas of the house.

Please don’t invite strangers. Even though you are provided with a set of keys to the apartment, you don’t have the right to invite others to the house unless it has been approved by the host(s). Sorry, but it’s a necessary protection against mishap.
I also ask for my guests to provide me a copy of your Identification with photo, please.
PASSPORT or DRIVE LICENSE, upon your arrive. For security reasons...

Maria was very welcoming, when I arrived she showed me around the house and where everything was. It was easy to get around as the subway was only about a five minute walk away and Times Square about a 40 minute train ride. Maria was very kind and was happy to answer any questions that I had.

I am happy that I stayed here. I got to discover the Bay Ridge area. Malu and Suzana are lovely ladies. I did not get to spend much time with Malu as she's busy most of the time, but overall this was a pleasant experience and I ♡ NY! The shower was great and I had the privacy I needed with my room. Thank you Malu for accepting me to stay at your home. Much love and light ☆

The room and common areas are squeaky clean. The pets are adorable and the host is a truly amazing person. I can only thank Malu for everything she taught me about living in NYC and important lessons for life. I'm jealous to write this review because I love the room and felt like home there like nowhere else.
