Coyote Camp sits on 63 glorious acres of Maine wilderness! There are trails and a stream that make up the entire western border. Bring along your GPS & go for a hike. The land is your play space but please no hunting (we love our wildlife!)

Our house is not just a place to rent out, it is our beloved home I poured my heart, soul and every ounce of love, patience and dedication I had to bring it to completion. Please treat it with love and have fun!

We are excited to host you!

The space
OUR HOME WAS RECENTLY PUBLISHED IN DOWN EAST HOMES MAGAZINE (Spring 2021 edition)!

This space is best suited for adults only and comfortably sleeps 2 but can accommodate up to 4 (with a fullsize fold down couch). Dogs are also welcome - just not on the furniture please!

There's a laundry chute in the bathroom vanity for your convenience, it ends at the washer/dryer in the (heated) garage alongside an ironing table and work bench. There's a luxurious shower you can indulge in at the end of a long day, and a pillow-top Queen bed that will relax you into a deep slumber under a large soothing cloud lamp that brings the magic of the outdoors right there inside with you!

The kitchen has all the amenities you need to cook and clean, including: pots, pans, bakeware, a sanitizing dishwasher, various glassware, eating utensils and cutlery with the added perk of a modern and stylish copper countertop!

The living room features a propane fireplace that is sure to keep you snug and add a romantic vibe on chilly autumn days and cold winter nights. There you will also find board games, cards, a bluetooth speaker and a 48" smart TV with Netflix, local stations and other free streaming options. Everything comes with remote controls so no need to get up to change the channel or adjust the fireplace. We have satellite Wi-Fi, which can be spotty at times - keep that in mind as we are in a rural natural setting.

Throughout the house you'll find personal touches that are there to keep your interest and boost your experience, and outside there is plenty of beauty to explore! Have fun and let us know if there's anything we can do to improve your stay - we are quick to respond.

Cheers! And thank you for choosing Coyote Camp for your Maine adventure!

A brief history of the house: Formally named "The ArkHaus" (you can read about it online) our home has gone through some MAJOR changes over the years and has crossed several state and international borders. For me it started in 2008 with 2 used shipping containers purchased from eBay (which I traced their travels from South Africa to Germany to Los Angeles and Asia!), the new plan for their retired state was to stay in the USA and get transformed into an off-grid living solution!

Originally designed and set up in Pennsylvania I had them trucked up to Maine when I bought this land in Spring 2011 (and very long story cut short) started renovating them in 2012 to be better acclimated for Maine winters. (even longer story cut much shorter) I, with the help of my awesome boat builder boyfriend, Steve, and a handful of local contractors - the yester years of the "ArkHaus" evolved into COYOTE CAMP and what you see today! Renovations were completed August 2020 with more upgrades and exciting features aligned for 2021!

Guest access
You are welcome to venture anywhere around the home. You have 63 acres to roam! and feel free to take a walk down our half mile driveway. Just keep in mind there's a neighbor's camp towards the bottom of the driveway close to the gate that is off limits.

Other things to note
Also, please keep in mind that this is a TRULY off grid house that is fully self-reliant and not at all powered by or hooked into the national power grid. In order to run all of the comforts and amenities of a conventionally powered home we have a large solar array and a battery bank to keep things going so you won't miss a beat, but please be considerate with your usage. We ask you and your guests be sure to turn off all lights, appliances and the fireplace when not in use and when you leave the house and if you can schedule to do your laundry during sunlight hours to avoid draining our batteries.

Thank you for your consideration and your cooperation.

Before venturing out be sure to check out our Guide to Hancock County here in the listing featuring some of our favorite dining and shopping experiences! You can also call, text or message us here through airbnb to inquire about anything not mentioned there.

You are in the neighborhood called "Happytown". No joke - it's really the name! My neighbors are kind, welcoming and friendly.

We are blessed to be just down the road from Branch Lake State Park (5min drive) that has a dog friendly sandy beach and uninhabited islands to explore. During spring, summer and early autumn months you can use our 2 kayaks (with lifevests) to enjoy on the lake. (note: they are only to be used in fresh water and not intended for ocean use)
