We had a good experience staying at Julie's place. She picked us up from the train station and dropped us back at the end of our stay. The accommodation was cozy and full of character. It may be helpful to know that the house is set right next to a country road. We thoroughly enjoyed being right on the peak district national park and going for a good stomp around the area.

I would seriously recommend this house for anyone who is looking for a quiet, friendly country retreat. The place was very clean and tidy, decorated very nicely and Julie went to amazing lengths to ensure my stay was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for anything more and can’t wait to go back. 100%.

We were looking for a quaint cottage in a rural area, which we could use as a base from which to explore the wonderful Peak District, and as a couple I don't think we could have made a better choice. It is small and cosy, but also practical because the little details have been thought about. Although it's situated with a few other buildings in a rural farmstead it is just right for popping into Glossop to get something from the butcher, baker, supermarket, have a drink in the numerous pubs or take advantage of the varied food choices. We didn't ask much of our host but the contact we did have was informative. There were also a couple of nice surprises. This is an excellent choice.

It was a lovely, cosy cottage. Julie was an amazing host, she brought us freshly made bread a couple of morning including a one of special of homemade bakery goods. It’s a perfect get away for a long weekend with a short trip into the town (Glossop) with local shops I.e. curry house, Tesco, boots etc. We would recommend this to any couples wanting a break. Thanks again Julie! Hope to see you again.

The Smithy is the perfect place to explore what Glossop and the Peak District has to offer. The cottage itself is cosy, with a snug bed and a wood burning stove (great for when it's cold and drizzly outside). It was clean & tidy and the little touches like hot water bottles were really thoughtful. Julie is the perfect hostess and couldn't be more helpful. The homemade bread on arrival was a very welcome touch. Thanks Julie! P.S The doors and furniture made by her son are amazing

We had our honeymoon in The Smithy, which is a beautiful cottage with fantastic views! Julie was a diligent host, providing freshly baked bread, a detailed explanation of the cottage and quick communication. We’d definitely recommend this cottage - it’s situated a short and lovely walk from Glossop, and we’d love to come back to explore more of the Peak District.

Beautiful home away from home in a lovely scenic location. Very quiet surroundings and big comfy bed made for a great nights sleep. The cottage was clean and warm and has nice amenities like on demand tv and WiFi. We managed to cook one night although space for that is limited. We also walked into town one night for dinner which didn’t take long. Overall our stay was lovely and little touches like homemade bread, books milk and games being there already made it that little bit better. Would 100% recommend it’s a shame we couldn’t stay for longer

Warm, friendly and love to chat! I love cooking, crafts, listening to audio books and spending time with family and friends. When you stay with me you will arrive as a stranger and hopefully leave as a friend. I love meeting new people and going the extra mile to ensure they have a memorable stay in my home.
