The Glasshouse is one of those very special places that are so incredibly rare to find. A stunning setting on the Northland East Coast with high-level luxury touches and amenities. This property is all about privacy, the naturally beautiful environment combined with stunning Architecture. Walking tracks on the property. Outstanding views wherever you look.

The space
World-class architecture and a stunning peninsula setting come together to create this truly unique and special retreat. Nestled intimately amongst a forest of ancient pohutukawa, glass, steel and timber merge to create this masterpiece that we've called The Glasshouse. With floor to ceiling windows on 3 sides, one gets a sense of being "in" the environment rather than observing it from afar. A unique bathroom facility in a seperate building just down from the house itself. Electric opening window in this separate building will allow you to feel you’re showering in nature.

When staying at the Glasshouse you will have the tip of the Peninsula to yourself, thus creating the ultimate in privacy.

We will meet you at the property upon arrival and show you the house and we will on call should you need any assistance. Other than that you will not be disturbed. We will also be there to help you when you check out.

This gated property is located close to the end of a long private right away.

The Glasshouse has a private walking track for you to enjoy and for those inclined there's a stairway/track that leads you to the rocks below where you just might be able to catch a fish or on a sunny day, go for a swim in perfect calm conditions!
Please note swimming areas and walking tracks are at times shared with guests staying at Te Whara (another house on the gated property)

Private, waterfront setting. Snorkelling gear provided for your use when the ocean provides perfect calm conditions. Bring your fishing gear and have a go at landing your dinner.
Please note swimming areas and walking tracks are at times shared with guests staying at Te Whara (another house on the gated property) We will inform you if this is the case on arrival.

Other things to note
Minimum night stays vary over different periods. Please enquire and we will assist.
Min 2-night reservation at all other times.
The house does not have great cell phone reception but has Wi-Fi.
Also, note the bathroom is a separate architectural feature of the property. There is no toilet in the main building itself.

The Glasshouse is located at the tip of the Peninsula and there are about 3 houses within a few kilometres. There are an array of private walking trails on the property.

The Glasshouse is located in Taiharuru at Whangarei Heads which is a 6000 ha peninsula and is well known for its outstanding scenic beauty and amazing coastal walks and hikes. The Mt Manaia hike is recognised as one of New Zealand top 14 short walks and Bream Head/Te Whara trail as of the top 5 day hikes. The views from any of the many trails are simply outstanding.

Bream Head Scenic Reserve is a coastal forest reserve. It is a rich archaeological landscape resulting from more than 500 years of Maori occupation.

On the Harbourside there are numerous sheltered beaches and waterways and on the Pacific Ocean side you will find the most incredible white sandy beaches. Kilometres of a deserted beach. Ocean Beach is surf-patrolled in summer.

Slightly further you have Tutukaka where boat trips head to the Poor Knights Islands. Most of our visitors do this trip. Highly recommended for a day out.
