House Rules

We expect you to leave the house in the condition you found it. The kitchen should be clean and all dishes put away. If using the bbq grills, please clean up after your use so our next guests will have clean grills..just like the kitchen.

The house has central air, so when leaving please set thermostat to 78 in summer and in the winter set the heat to 55 .

NO SMOKING in the house. You may smoke OUTDOORS. Be careful of fires when it is dry! You must inquire about pets..we do have a cat that stays around the guesthouse. We also have cattle that run in the pastures near the house.

Trash may be put in the dumpster at the main Ranch house if a lot accumulates during your stay. Otherwise, gather all your trash and leave in kitchen when you leave.

When driving around on the ranch..please stay on the dirt (URL HIDDEN) not drive on the grass, especially when it is dry. If hiking, please be careful of snakes in the area.

Do not lock the doors when leaving, just leave the key to the house on the bar "bear". Thanks for staying!
Come again!!

Had a great time staying at the guest house. Cerita was very flexible with us on a scheduling change. The mesa is an extremely unique location that we enjoyed exploring over the course of our trip.

The place is secluded and beautiful. The home is very nice, with an old-time cabin feel. The stars are AMAZING. The very best thing about the mesa valley guest house is Cerita, the host. We arrived late in the evening. We hadn't brought any food with us. After meeting Cerita, we asked where was the closest place to get food. She said that Boise City was the closest, but that all the places would be closed by the time we could get there. Cerita was so nice, she went and got some food from her home to give us, so we had something to eat. I've never experienced such a gracious host. Absolutely recommend staying here!

Great little place out in the middle of Black Mesa Nature Preserve. The rain we experienced was a bummer, but the house was cozy and quiet, tons of space to have more people with us in the future. Overall, very happy with the accommodations.

Absolutely loved this place. Both the home itself and the local area far exceeded our expectations and were such a wonderful and unique experience. We were initially just going to stay overnight on our way up north but after reading up on Black Mesa and all the cool stuff in the area (highly recommend both the park & preserve + the dino tracks for nerds like me!), we decided to stay an extra day to explore. I am so glad we did! And honestly, just exploring the beautiful property itself would have been well worth the trip. The home is comfortable and so charming, Cerita was so kind, we saw tons of wildlife, and the surrounding area is a hidden gem. Great and memorable experience that has really added to our trip. <3

Beautiful area and nice home. Stopped and met up with family coming from Kansas and OK on way to Colorado. Thanks for the hiking map and directions! Just a couple miles from the dinosaur tracks. Kids, teens, and adults all had a nice stay. Thanks!

Cerita User ProfileCerita is a superhost.

My name is Cerita Walker and my husband is Eddie Walker. The "guesthouse" was our home for 38 years where we raised our 3 children. We live 42 miles from a school, grocery store, gas station and any shopping! It's amazingly quite and very private.
Since the death of his parents, we have moved to their home and started using our house as a Guesthouse. The GuestHouse is about 1.5 miles from our home....across the river and through the pastures. We are located on the New Mexico and Oklahoma border.
