A wonderful and traditional three bedroom, stone built house that is very spacious and boasts fantastic valley views from two terraces. The house has a large outdoor area with bbq, grill and a big dining table for al-fresco eating and lazy conversation. There are two fireplaces for cooler evenings.
The Cliff house is owned by our dear friend Makis and his wife Maria who lived there with their family for about eight years. The children are grown up now. Makis and Maria decided to move to a smaller house and rent out this lovely traditional village house with a fantastic valley view.
The Cliff was originally two houses that the owners made into one. That is why the house is very spacious and has different levels. Made out of stone with thick walls which keeps the house cool in the summer and warm in the winter, but just in case it also has the addition of two fire places for those cooler evenings, making it an ideal place for a cosy winter escape.
The house has enough space for a large family and couples have also spent some great summer holidays here, really it's big enough to be called a villa according to the size.
The outside offers a large area with grill and BBQ that allows for al fresco dining and a great space to eat and talk around a big social table.
The sala (living room) has the beautiful famous chochlakia: a floor made of white and black occasionally a few red pebbles that are selected from the beach, and are laid into a beautiful mosaic one by one, making it one of the most expensive and traditional floors that you can have in these modern times. This is a truly heavenly experience as these cool pointy stones tickle you under the feet and feel like acupuncture. The couches are the typical Greek wooden couches that you will often see depicted on Greek postcards.
The well equipped kitchen is next to the sala and has a dining area as well, so you can cook and chat with family and friend whilst enjoying a glass of wine.
The bathroom is large and complemented with a nice bath with shower overhead, this is common for a Greek house. There's also a washing machine for your convenience.
From the hallway there is access to the downstairs bedroom which has a high sleeping area on a wooden platform above, this is accessed by sturdy wooden steps. At ground level there is a single bed which makes this a triple room.
Going up the stairs from the hall, you reach a large, landing that can serve as an office which will easily allow three people to sit working on laptops. Another small flight of stairs takes you to the second bedroom with a double bed and air conditioning. Next to this bedroom is a walk-in closet and next to this is the master bedroom. This is a very large bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a fire place. There are doors opening from the master bedroom that overlook the whole valley offering fantastic views. You can also enjoy these views from the upstairs terrace, accessed via a door from the landing. The terrace has a seating area with further steps up to the very top terrace where you can laze on the sun loungers with a glass of wine or two and enjoy the spectacular sunsets, or if you are an early bird - sun rises.
Location wise, the house is in a quiet spot in the traditional village of Koskinou. It is at the edge of the village, overlooking the whole valley of Koskinou and beyond. You are still only a 10-15 minutes drive away from Rhodes Old Town, although there are several great places to eat and several good supermarkets and shops close to the house and within easy walking distance.
The feeling of this house is that of independence and solitude without feeling isolated. It really is a house that has everything you need to make your holiday on our beautiful island memorable and comfortable.
The whole house is yours to live in and enjoy.
Interaction with guests
I like to let my guests enjoy their privacy and solitude if they desire, although should you want to invite me over and my schedule allows I will gladly drop by for a drink and a chat and to share local knowledge of the area.
Other things to note
This house is something special. For those wishing to live in a relaxed and traditional house this will not disappoint. You can relax in a beautiful home, go out exploring and look forward to returning every night.

I am Gudrun Wilsterman. I have lived in greece over the past 12 years where i met my ex-husband and got 2 children 11 and 12. My ex was always building houses, renovating them, and selling them, and the logic step was for me to rent out the ones that we preferred to keep or didn't sell. I really liked doing this, so I made a profession out of it. My fiancé, Micah, is from the UK and he is helping me with the renting and the technical and organisational aspects of it all. He is an electricien, and good in plumbing, wood work, and all sort of technical stuff that i don't even want to think about. He loves fixing things, and he had a hotel himself in the past, which he loved, as well as being in hospitality.
What i offer are not houses, but homes. I want people to come back after a day exploring the beautiful island and to feel they are going back to their homes. That is my biggest aim. They need to feel comfortable, feel being in a cozy environment, and i will do anything for them to arrive at the house for the first time and say 'wowww, this is great, even better than the pictures'. That's what gives me the drive to work hard, and make my guests feel comfortable and welcome.
I believe all of this is achieved best if i leave my guest to be as independant as possible, and not get into his home initially. I will be at the back ground, always reachable when necessary, but i hate intruding, so if you do expect me to come for a coffee or a chat, please notify me. I am too shy to initiate so myself, and will never take that first step, but if you appreciate it, then i will pass by. But remember: it's your home for as long as you stay, not mine!!
I do hope to be able to welcome you soon in your holiday home!!
