The BnB was the perfect base for my partner and I. The instructions in the house are filled with every question you may have, the tea and coffee set up is really cute, there were bathroom amenities which was a nice surprise too. The bed was comfy also. Marco had recommendations for us which was awesome as we hadn't made many plans. It was a lovely 30 min walk from the house to the ferry which takes you to the other central areas of Malta... a must do we think because the ferry gives you a fantastic new perspective of the island. Thanks Marco, Rita & Chris

Marco and Rita were really warm and hospitable. It was a pleasure to stay at their place. This was our first time in Malta, and I'm glad it was our first impression here, in the older village of Haz-Zabbar, rather than the more flashy parts. It was easy to venture in to Valleta and other places with the bus. Marco was also very helpful with planning and ideas around Mala. Thank you!

All in all i had a bad experience in Marcos house. The pictures taken look very nice, but as you arrive you will see that its not all gold. The house is very very dark and the only light you will have in the living area is a neon light on the ceiling which is very bad for the eyes and 2 little bulbs who are not very light. Unfortunatly the next door neighbour did some construction work, which started around 6.30-7 am stoped during mid day and continued from 5-8pm which was totally annoying, as it hammered and hammered on the walls. As i checked out after 4 nights instead of 10 i was accused of being lazy with my research and not well prepared by Marco which i found very hard. I think sometimes its just not the right place for someone, which is no ones fault. If you like to live in a dark cellar with unnatural light, mouldy bathclothes and smelly bedsheets this is a great place for you. In the end i`m more hurt by the 2 very long accusing emails written by Marco then anything else. I do not recommend to any one staying with Marco.

Response from Rita Marco Chris:
Judith, thank you for your review - honestly - it will help people who won't appreciate the beautiful aura of my 400 yr old house and its simple neighbourhood do a better choice. I won't go into the specifics of the review but I will just say that probably my attempts to explain how the house's description is accurate were ill-timed. All the best. Marco.

Staying in Rita Marco Chris's place was a great choice :) I really liked the city/village and its normal life. It was close (a few kilometres) to 3 cities, Valletta and other places so walking there was a pleasure. House itself is exactly what I needed spacious and placed in a quiet part of the village. The great thing about the house is the small balcony and the fact that you can actually enjoy your breakfast in front of the house - in the small (privat) alley. You can also feel that the house is more than. 100 years old - I especially liked.the stairs :) Friday the hosts I met Marco and Rita. Both really nice, additionally Marco was a great inspiration in choosing the Malta attractions - you can really rely on his recommendations :)

Thank you Marco and Rita! It was a great experience to stay in an authentic Maltese neighborhood. There are several detailed instructions around the house and in the document that were helpful. It was also easy to get to Valetta by walking to the ferry and then taking the ferry in. Thanks!

Hello, Marco here :).
First up, Rita and her family still lead a traditional Maltese way of life. They really add value to the experience as through them you can get immersed in typical Maltese village life. We try to offer a wholesome experience, not just an place to sleep.
As to me now. A software engineer by profession, I felt the lack of interaction with people. Airbnb provides me with the opportunity to do this, to share the Maltese spirit with the people I host. It also allows me to deliver a great service, something which really enthuses me :) I manage the house with my friend Dr. Christian Colombo, a lecturer in computer science at the university of Malta.
I didn't choose to rent out just any house. But I choose one in the midst of true Maltese character on purpose. I wish to share the beauty of my people with others. The character of the old part of Zabbar simply encapsulates traditional Malta.
